AtomicPoet, moderator of FediverseNews@Piefed.social, is abusing it as he goes along
Note: Can you guys please stop downvoting stuff of his that is unrelated to the situation? Just because he's a shitty moderator in this particular moment and situation does not mean that his other posts deserve to be criticized or downvoted as well. Leave the dude alone. Only criticize him on his moderator behavior in this thread or when seen in the wild. Do not bully or go after this guy for no reason. Please. That's not what I made this post for, and it's not what I'm trying to direct.
[Update]: He's deleting all of his communities and plans on pulling back from Fediverse posting until he's able to control all aspects of it, by owning his own instance. Update is here
Bro is used pretty colloquially and, admittedly, often as a dismissive turn of phrase. Exactly as it was in this comment of mine on the post "Lemmy users are in an uproar because MAGA fascists spun up their own server."

Installed New SSD, Stuck Like This While Reimagining -Working

Got my new ssd installed in the deck, booted into recovery and started reimagining. It was going fine for a while then I started to see a lot of errors and it hung for a while.

But after sitting at the above image for a while it started moving again. Now it is stuck again, and for far longer than before. Is it safe to turn it off and go back into recovery?
Update: rebooted and it booted into Steam OS, and is updating.

Update 2: after the reboot and update I am not signed in and installing games.

The Green Party Reveals Its Chronology Of Events In Its Communications With The Leaders’ Debates Commission

Has the president of El Salvador's man in Washington found a new model for foreign influence?

Nayib Bukele is so popular with the US right that his refusal Monday to free a Maryland man with no criminal record mistakenly sent to a supermax prison in a foreign country was greeted by MAGA types as being, basically, badass.
The Salvadorian president who has dubbed himself “the world’s coolest dictator” was already a Trumpworld darling partly because of his gift for authoritarian showmanship— and his apparent success reducing crime by jailing alleged criminals with little due process. But his US popularity is

South Korea's impeached President Yoon detained in massive law-enforcement effort
Yoon was brought into custody about three hours after hundreds of law enforcement officers entered the residential compound in their second attempt to detain him.
Summary
Impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was detained following a large-scale law enforcement operation at his presidential residence.
Yoon, who declared martial law on Dec. 3 to counter an "anti-state" opposition, had defied multiple summons for questioning.
Law enforcement overcame barricades and resistance from Yoon's security service, detaining him under accusations of rebellion.
The liberal opposition supports his arrest, while Yoon's party calls it unlawful.
Yoon’s impeachment awaits a Constitutional Court ruling, which will decide whether he is formally removed or reinstated.

Mike Johnson secures US House speakership after facing internal dissent
Three Republicans voted for someone else, but two later changed their votes while all Democrats backed Jeffries
Summary
After initial dissent, Republican Mike Johnson secured the US House speakership with 218 votes, overcoming opposition from three GOP members, including Thomas Massie, who backed another candidate.
Johnson, endorsed by Trump, promised fiscal reforms, stricter oversight of government spending, and advancing an "America First" agenda.
His team worked behind the scenes to negotiate support, including assurances on budget cuts demanded by conservative Republicans.
Johnson’s victory avoids prolonged voting chaos reminiscent of Kevin McCarthy’s 2023 election but highlights ongoing GOP divisions over policy and leadership.

‘Let yourself be monitored’: EU governments to agree on Chat Control with user “consent”

Based on a new proposal by the Belgian Minister of the Interior, EU governments could endorse the much-criticised child sexual abuse regulation (CSAR or chat control) as early as June after all. This is what internal information leaked to Pirate Party MEP and shadow rapporteur Patrick Breyer reveals

Huawei anti-porn filter may be active non-Chinese devices.
UPDATE: Crisis Averted.
So...it's both not what I thought it was, and what I thought it was.
Turns out my 5 year old phone has developed some rendering issues. The message I can only assume is the result of an image being turned sideways getting caught in the renderer's cache or buffer and presenting as a 'ghost' similar to burn in. The image in question was a meme right here on lemmy:

And presented as below but with less than 1% opacity.

====== Original.
I found a device level messaging overlay on my Huawei device that sits above the application layer. It displays a very low contrast transparency with more transparent text. The imagery is not burn in, I thought it was which is how I found it. Moving a mottled grey image around on the screen in a low light environment makes the text more visible. The text in question seems to be an anti-porn message reading along the li

Trump Promises to Present an ‘Irrefutable REPORT’ Within the Next Week That Will Exonerate Him and Prove 2020 Georgia Vote Was ‘Rigged’

Donald Trump promised a forthcoming "Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable Report" that would exonerate himself and implicate his enemies Tuesday.

Updating with Gov. Brian Kemp's response:
The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen.
For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward - under oath - and prove anything in a court of law. Our elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to be as long as I am governor.
The future of our country is at stake in 2024 and that must be our focus.
