[Weekly thread] How is everyone doing with their home improvements?

Got permission from my [uphill] neighbor to install a catch basin underneath one of her downspouts that always floods our yard when it rains. Dug a shallow trench about 20ft. to an existing storm drain and tied it in.
No more flooding my yard.

Built a new workbench in my basement. Also scraped the old paint up and re-sealed the basement floor. Relocated utility sink to be away from circuit breaker panel. Plumbed it in above floor drain. Have a small patch of floor left to scrape & re-seal. Then install a new wall behind utility sink. And a shower stall next to the sink.
- A good workspace is a thing of Zen. Enjoy your clean workbench, because that will change in a week and it will never be this clean again!

Working on irrigation to all corners of my piece of land. Digging meters and meters and putting HDPE pipe connectors with water sockets. Digging is heavy work but I needed a workout actually

Got my family's outdoor railing re-attached to the brickwork today. I had put it off for awhile since drilling into brick sounds like a ton of work. Turns out the right tool for the job, a hammer drill, makes it quite straightforward. :)
Spring really helps with motivation, already got a few items off the list this season!

Contractor told me my wall paint looks like skin. So i guess we're repainting that. 🤦🤷

Just finished my home sprinkler system. So satisfying for it to just work now (after plenty of struggle).

Been working on a kitchen renovation, bit by bit. Floors, cabinets, counter... Basically everything except for appliances and general layout. The last big step was the tile backsplash, and my friend helped me with caulking it this past weekend (she said she has a pretty good touch with that, and I know I probably don't). Turned out pretty good!
Normally my dad would help me with stuff like that, but he lives a few states away. He knows I've been working on it, but hasn't seen any progress pictures in a long time. It'll be fun to show him when my parents come to visit this week!
Down to some trim work (floor, cabinet toe kicks) and a few other odds and ends!
- Couple photos before caulking. Too many soulless, sterile, monochromatic kitchens out there. I have some white/gray stuff, but only with some strategy involved. Gray counters hide food. White cabinets are timeless and easy to match. I was sure to add color where I could otherwise, and the backsplash was a great option!
