When you use the internet without an adblocker
You're just
RAWDOGGING THE INTERNET
Someone once described LimeWire to me as, "having unprotected sex with the internet," and they were completely right.
...and The Internet is a disgusting, filthy slut.
Its not as fun with a firewall.
Back in my day we were told that was how you got a virus.
Quite sure that in that case the internet is RAWDOGGING YOU
I mean, she's still using it correctly in that context. 👀
If I say something "tastes like ass" and I'm eating, like, a bagel, I'm probably saying it tastes bad and not like ass cheeks.
Yeah, I think how she is using it is completely acceptable. We all understand what she is saying and what she means... that's a win in my book.
Although it's not really possible to eat pizza without rawdoggin it.
Unless you use a fork and knife like a heathen
Maybe she's a ranch user?
Although it’s not really possible to eat pizza without rawdoggin it.
Unless you use a fork and knife like a heathen
I have my butler cut up my pizza for me with a pizza knife and a pizza fork. And then I have my nanny feed it to me. "Here comes the train to the tunnel, choo-choo!"
You gotta go to Edgar's Bagels on 65th if you want ass check flavored bagels. They don't skimp on the cream cheese either.
Gotta get that schmear on the rear
Edgar's Bagels: Another way to fill a hole.
I'd rather eat ass than this.
You're supposed to eat AROUND the hole
I had a friend who thought "Netflix & chill" just meant watch movies and relax, so she had it on her dating app profile and couldn't understand why she only got hookups.
So ugh where’d she post it again?
The internet is so tame now. Are there any websites left or is it largely just professional stuff left?
I thought that's what it meant, too.
I'm old.
It's a double entendre. It means both, but much more the "hook up" subtext.
I thought that's what it meant, too.
I'm young.
If you're old enough, she's correct.
My daughter, still in elementary school a few years ago, asked if we can Netflix and Chill after a long day.
I had trouble explaining to her what it meant.
I think it can mean a both - that's the great thing about a noncommittal word like chill. I think the key part is that whatever happens is casual.
But yeah would probably get a lot of hookup attention on a dating website
I don't know, I don't think of sex as chilling. Just like I don't see sport as chilling. Chilling should be more calm and less purpose-driven.
Or ignorance made a convenient fig leaf.
That's.... A valid way to use that phrase now
Someone is going to feel so edgy when they use it as originally conceived unwittingly.
Not at work without some serious eyes
I'm blue collar lol I can't relate to NSFW warnings.
Idk what you meant by without some serious eyes
Off my antidepressants and just rawdogging reality.
I just rawdogged this comic
I just rawdogged this comment
I just rawdogged myself?
I still like the phrase "raw dogging reality" as I have zero desire to do so.
She should have barebacked it instead.
Prescriptivists hate this one trick.
Ok, but like the use of the word is correct as it evolved from the original meaning.
That dude is just explaining (albeit recent) word etymology to her.
It's like porn - "art porn" is not the same as "porn art" (eg food-/history-/Earth-/map-/artefact-/engineering-/city-/justice-/penmanship-/sky-/human-porn etc).
Did you enjoy the joke?
Your mom enjoyed my jokes
Yes, that dude is gonna get raw hotdogs now.
Her friends don't appreciate semantic drift. She's innovating the language.
I'm too lazy to get my glasses, I guess I'll just RAWDOG this post.
I only recently found out the origin of "circlejerk"
Better played with a cookie in the middle
That's called limp biscuit
My sweet child Came home from elementary school saying he played Cookie in the middle. Apparently to the teacher, it's Monkey in the Middle but the teacher didn't like kids being called monkeys, so the kids called each other cookies.
Only for me to Google it and it lead to the definition I was familiar with: Ookie Cookie. 😱
They did it all for the nookie.
Rugby players tend to prefer a slice of toast.
I hope your shoes are clean.
Some context, this girl's character is one of those people strongly against using swear words with bad meanings, so to her it's quite a bit worse.
What a bore of a character premise.
Only if it's a lecture in disguise or a "role model".
As an actual character? Totally fine.
Nah those types of personalities are freaks in the sheets.
A person must have a code
I had to explain to my friend that "struggle snuggle" is not when your cat is trying to get away from you while you hug it.
I mean... from the cat's point of view that's EXACTLY what it is emotionally.
So also not a struggle session that ends with snuggles?
That’s called aftercare.
Please explain like I’m 5, and a non-native speaker, what "rawdog" means 🧐
Fuck without condom.
You are not five.
Thanks pal. You’re right about me not being 5 of course. No idea how one would ELI5 that anyway.
Thank you, I'm going to go repeat this in front of my teacher and tell them I heard it from my parents.
Literal Eli5: "it's a slang term that some people use, but it isn't something you should worry about right now. It's meant for adults"
Since I'm becoming a father soon, I started learning responses like this
This is how you end up with a generation of kids who grow up using "rawdog" to mean something other than "unprotected sex". Just talk to your kids about sex.
Me: Stop playing with the Nintendo Billy and listen: Rawdogging is when a mommy and a daddy loves eachother very much, and want to make a little baby then daddy puts his pee pee into mommy's wuu wuu...
Billy: eeeew TMI!
Just in case you really needed an answer.
In a sexual context, having sex without protection. In conversational context, it pretty much means with no support or accessories. So her "raw dogging" a bus ride means no music/entertainment, she's just going to have to look out the window or something.
Not just without protection, also without lube or foreplay of any kind. That's an important distinction.
Specifically, "raw" is rather obvious - meaning unprepared, as in to not use a condom
But the dog part comes from a more sinister usage where to "dog someone out" was to "pimp someone out" - ie coerce someone into sex work. Pretty sure I was hearing rawdog in the late 80's or early 90's.
Reminds me of the time I had to explain to a friend that twat was not a synonym for twit.
I once used the word twat around my then-girlfriend and she "corrected" me, insisting it was pronounced "twah". Turns out she thought people saying it were trying to use the French word toit and mispronouncing it. No idea why she thought anybody would want to call somebody else a French roof.
Lookit' this French Roof, over here, c'rectin' people's grammer...
You're friend wasn't the first to make such a mistake. There's a poem from 1841 by Robert Browning, called Pippa Passes, in which he misunderstands the meaning of the word "twat." Apparently he thought it was the name for part of a nun's outfit.
But at night, brother howlet, over the woods,
Toll the world to thy chantry;
Sing to the bats' sleek sisterhoods
Full complines with gallantry:
Then, owls and bats,
Cowls and twats,
Monks and nuns, in a cloister's moods,
Adjourn to the oak-stump pantry!
I learnt that when I was about 7 after shouting it at my dad in front of a crowd of people.
That reminds me of the time I went to a roller disco as a child, having just seen Mr Bean at the pictures that afternoon (this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bean_(film)). There's a bit at the end where Mr Bean's in a convertible waving at everyone he sees, when this hard knock rides up on a motorbike and responds with the middle finger, so Mr Bean naïvely copies the gesture and ends up sitting high up on the back of the seat giving the finger to everyone and no one. Ironically enough, I was too young to know what the finger was, so I just naïvely copied the gesture myself and started skating in circles around this sports hall giving the finger to everyone and no one. I don't remember anyone doing anything about it either!
eh, depends on context. Twat is pretty versatile
I've seen so many Gen-Zers on TikTok saying how to raw dog a flight. ummmmmm please don't
Wait all this time I was supposed to wear a condom while on a flight?
Oh no I have a lot of phone calls to make.
Literally today heard a preteen at my daughter's dance class say she was "rawdogging" the parking lot because she was walking around without shoes. No, child. Just... no.
Man, people my age (39yo millennial) have been using "raw dogging" to mean literally doing anything without some sort of protection or barrier between you and something nasty for a while; not strictly sex without a condom.
"Ew .. You cleaned your toilet without gloves? You just raw dogged that shit?! Bro, I'm going home. Fuck this BBQ."
@ThePicardManeuver I'll never correct anyone who uses "rawdog" this way, but that's only because will also never not find it funny when they do. What can I say, I'm easily amused. 😅
When you dont have adblock You raw dog the internet
At least it's not an I'll informed engineer inventing new terms out of already existing terms.
Forgot my sluice gate goons raw dog this shaft work.
I'm almost ashamed this makes sense to me
What do people actually think rawdog means (besides having sex without a condom)?
People use it as slang for doing something in the most basic way without protection/assistance/augmentation, etc.
Pretty much just like the lady in the comic.
Yes, because they understand the meaning and are making a play off of it. I genuinely do not believe anyone over the age of 12 who uses the term "rawdog" isn't completely and fully aware of the meaning when they use it.
Taking a transatlantic flight and spending it all awake, looking at the flight map.
I feel like the real meaning is milder than this
This was the exact joke used on the show Shrinking. Where Harrison Ford had no idea what its true meaning meant and would use it in some questionable situations until eventually someone had the balls to tell him what it really meant. It wasn't a great show but it was ok sometimes.
Thank you, I was struggling to remember where I (and the cartoonist I guess?) had originally heard this joke.
Great memory and great description of Shrinking. Also, take that! joke-stealing comic.
I had a friend that did exactly this. We had to tell him and he wasn't impressed.
Just gonna say, I find this kind of thing adorable
I will relentlessly make fun of them, but it's endearing and I'll go off on anyone else making fun of them
Next thing it'll be"I got pegged last night. I was so full!"
Clearly the sudden popularity of this phrase comes from this exact confusion.
Alternatively the phrase suggests a wiener is cooked for protected sex so it wasn’t the best used metaphor in the first place.
Raw can also refer to the lack of a protective layer. One can rub their skin raw, for example, meaning the skin was rubbed so hard that the top layer was removed. The "cooking" in this case would be the skin healing back. And putting a condom over it for safety.
Raw meat carries infectious disease
I don’t disagree.
Literally.
Is it a term originating from the Omegaverse?
