More Americans blame Trump, Republicans for shutdown than Democrats: Survey

In the poll from The Washington Post, 47 percent of respondents said “Trump and Republicans in Congress” are “mainly responsible for the federal government partially shutting down,” while 30 percent pinned the blame on “Democrats in Congress” for the shutdown.
In the survey, 66 percent of respondents said they are either “very” or “somewhat” concerned over the shutdown, while 34 percent said they are “not too” or “not at all” concerned.
The Post poll took place Wednesday, featuring 1,010 people and a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

23% is unsure or has no opinion? Holy shit that's huge.
- It is shocking how many people have absolutely no fucking clue what is going on.
  
  I mean, I also wonder how many of that 23% are scared of ending up on an enemies list or some shit if they say the wrong thing to the wrong person right now
  
  To be fair there is an absolute fuck ton of shit going on and it's nearly impossible to keep track of all of the bull shit. This is, of course, by design but it's working to perfection. There's just a maelstrom of frustrating things going on and stuff starts to slip by unnoticed more and more.
  To your point tho, there is a crazy amount of people that don't know of any of it at all. Which is almost impressive at this point.
  
  I remember as a child hearing stats about what percentage of American adults could not name the current President, and I think I had some amount of disbelief. I mean, you'd think it would be near-zero. Then you factor in people that are extremely stupid or mentally disabled in some way and give some grace there. In any case, now that I'm an adult, I'm no longer a disbeliever in so many people being so very ignorant.

  I'd say almost everyone here has a clue what is going on and everyone here is really unhappy about it.

The better headline is that only 30 percent blame Dems. That tells me that while many in MAGA won't admit to anyone that Reps did it, they aren't fooled into believing Dems did it.
An additional interesting poll would be how many Americans support the shut-down.
- It’s probably tricky to question that. Nobody wants the government shut down. But we’re here cause somebody isn’t doing the right thing. So far the majority is blaming Trump, which gives Dems more leverage.

  I mean, I personally am in favor of keeping the government shutdown until every ICE agent who's missing paychecks because of it has to quit and finds a different job, but admittedly opinion polls say that's probably still an outlier opinion at this point
  
  Tons of MAGA simps and the Trump administration want the government shut down. It gives them another cover story for further firing of federal employees and withholding payments to programs they don't like since their initial wave is getting slowed down by the courts.

Well, that's good. A whole lot of the fucking media has not been much help, that's for sure.
And I bet that 34 percent are the same knuckle-draggers that think the Big Gubbermint never did them no good anyhow, even if very many of them desperately depend on that very government...the "small government" propaganda is pervasive and it fucking works.
I'm sure almost everyone knows someone in their lives like this - they may even work directly for the government or directly for a major company that relies entirely on government and they will still be deep in denial and vote for Republicans reliably and preach the gospel of "small government" and removed about people "on the dole", etc...
I remember asking someone that worked for Raytheon who was going on like this - "don't you work for the government, in truth?" This almost caused him to short out, he got so angry. Pretty simple question, really. Why so angry? He went on and on - "it's not government, it's the private sector!, etc." for a while, and I let him. Then I just asked him if he really thought Raytheon would survive without any government contracts. Also, why did he need a GOVERNMENT security clearance to do his job? What's that all about?
I could tell it really hit home. I mean, it's fair to ask, though. These kind of people are the types that will just start up with this dogma, completely unprompted, and I don't really know what they expect? People either getting triggered? Or giving a high-five and a "megadittoes!!!" whoop? But then they cannot field the most simple of questions that point out the disconnect...

Mike Johnson literally shut the government down days before the vote on the funding bill to prevent the discharge petition that would force the release of all the Epstein files.

That’s because it is on the republicans.
- Just because the Republicans control both houses, and because the Republican president ordered Republicans in the legislature not to even meet to negotiate with the Democrats, and because the Republicans could easily avoid the shutdown by continuing the ACA subsidies that even over half of their own base wants, and because the Republican president was giddy about the possibility of a shutdown, somehow everyone is in a rush to blame Republicans for the shutdown that the Republicans almost unilaterally caused.

Anyone who blames democrats at this point might need to have their voter registration cards revoked. They don’t deserve to be treated like adults any longer.

The percentage of Americans that aren't potatoes still slightly higher than the percentage that are.

That’s because there are no real Republicans anymore— they’re all going to vote blue now if they aren’t a MAGA sycophant, and those numbers in REAL life are shrinking, not growing. Real people are fed up with this bullshit.
