The Maiden Made Of Light
The Maiden Made Of Light
After the fall of the old sun god which is now worshiped in modern churches today, there was a need for a deity to rule over the sun and the day. Hechun struck the old god of the sun, where she shattered like glass into a hundred thousand new spirits and gods. An orphaned girl by the name of Linh was chosen as the next god of the sun because she never had a negative thought in her life. She ascended to the sky and burst into flames as she took the role of sun goddess. The entire sun became her palace where mortals can go if they choose to meditate on solar energy.
Aside from being a sun goddess she is also the goddess of mercy, compassion and kindness since these were values imposed onto the old god of the sun claimed but neglected to fulfill. Her body is made of fire and light but she can appear as a bright glowing human in dreams and visions. She is able to slay any beast in the energetic planes and is connected to the divine feminine. Her relationship with the fire god is complicated. She is sometimes said to be his daughter and other times a distant relative. Other times she is depicted as a simple human with long black hair, pale skin, almond shaped eyes, and an orange kimono covered in sigils of the sun. She also tends to wear an orange headpiece resembling solar fire. She can help a follower in various ways especially in providing hope, entertainment, or energy. She is also loosely associated with crops although not as deeply as a god of the harvest would be. One of her jobs is also illuminating the path to the afterlife for those that die in dark places and are unable to find the light.
While the mythology tells us her name was formerly Linh, it can sometimes be disrespectful to refer to gods as the names they had when they were humans. It is best to address her as her title or simply the light maiden. She is one of the few deities in the pantheon to be relatively celibate. She is the patron god of women and those who seek to be kind or pleasant.
