But as the 2026 landscape takes shape, a question is whether this also reflects newer damage to the Democratic Party brand. Since last year’s election, polling has continued to find Democrats with a worse image than Republicans.
I know it seems hard to believe but it kind of makes sense. The Republican party has been fully taken over by the MAGA movement, and, in the words of Walter from the Big Lebowski: "say what you want about [MAGA], at least it's an ethos." What is the ethos of the Democratic party?
There are ideological factions in the Democratic party, but none has clear control. There is no unified, cohesive vision that the majority of Democratic voters, and American voters broadly, can rally around.
You're absolutely correct. Democrats don't even have a figurehead to rally around, let alone ideas. Gavin Newsome is the best they've got and he's got almost as much baggage as Hillary did. When your party's platform is "look how bad the other guy is" it doesn't matter how right you are or aren't, you let the other guy control the conversation. So suddenly American politicians have to pretend MAGA policies aren't batshit crazy because nobody is suggesting sane policy decisions
Gavin Newsome is the best they've got and he's got almost as much baggage as Hillary did.
Yeah, I don't think Gavin Newsome is that guy. I think the best candidate the Democrats have currently is Andy Beshear, but he's not a radical or progressive. He doesn't represent anything new, necessarily. Quite the opposite, in fact, he's a "return to normalcy" candidate, in many ways, but that does hold appeal to some. Regardless, if he, or any other candidate, is going to unify the Democratic party, they are going to have to very clearly lay out a coherent vision for where they want the US to go from here. I can't say which vision would unify the party, but I know that without a cohesive vision, the Democrats will remain stuck in place.
Register to vote or go down with the boat!
why? does voting in a rigged election with the only two parties could vote on having already been bought and sold? why register does it show more than if one engaged in acts of civil disobedience?
uncle tomming this has not worked and will not work quit cozying up to the masters and trying to be HOA because not going to find common ground or gain a voice
just bread and circuses done in an attempt to keep us culled and only thing going to get us out is to be a fist together and rise up
Yeah, cuz 30%+ of people not voting worked so well last time. After the MAGA sheep, they definitely aren't the cause of where we are now.
Turns out you can do both. Vote to send a message to others, if nothing else. Make the fascists lives harder in every way. Don't just roll over at the polls and make the takeover even easier for them.
No, people actually need to GO OUT AND VOTE. Telling people to not vote takes away the shred of agency they have. Both sides bad is a false equivalence meant to keep people from voting. Positive change seems to only happen in increments. Fast change is often violent and slapdash.
Funny how prices are worse for people, especially food, but now suddenly it's not the fault of the party in power. Funny how the group of people who cry about nanny state and federal power now increase support for a wannabe dictator throwing around military power in the country. Funny how the same group who called Biden a dictator for using executive orders now fully support the guy who spits out executive orders like a gatling gun. Funny how the people who kept claiming Biden was going to get us in a war increase support for someone literally poking Venezuela with a military stick. Funny how the party who decry censorship and cried about private online companies censoring hateful content saying they're persecuted as conservatives now cheer on the government literally trying to destroy the Democratic party.
It's all so "funny"....
No, wait, hypocritical. Fucking disgustingly, infuriatingly, hypocritical. That's the word.
