Seeing the new features of the pixel 10 gave me arguments to switch to the Fairphone
Honestly the normal phone market is so mature at this point that there isnt going to consistently be much difference between one device and the next. This seems like a good piece of evidence for that.
They are expensive as fuck (500€ for the 9a, 700 for the 9) but since my only other options are either
Or
I'll happily buy a 12a when the extended support for my 7 ends.

I feel like the Pixel 10 series itself would be fine if they didn't start withholding device trees/binaries. Forcing people onto your hardware because you're the best for custom ROMs is one thing, revoking that access later is an entire other thing that ensures I will not be buying another Pixel for the foreseeable future. Waiting on custom ROMs with locked bootloader for the Fairphone 6 at the moment.
The Pixel 10 basically seems like the Pixel 9 but with even more bloat. On paper, the hardware specs between the two certainly aren't much different.
Perhaps worse than the 9 when it comes to wifi which has been downgraded from 7 to 6e. Will most users care? Maybe not, but I do.
What's the difference?
They look nice but I'm not really a fan of more AI-related features in phones. I realize that some love these short of features, but I don't see a reason to switch from my Pixel 8 Pro w/ GrapheneOS on it.
Earlier pixel phones where known for their stock android experience. By now I feel it has changed. Now there are more AI applications on pixels than any phones out there and they all seems to be doing the same.
These pixel phones are essentially turning into a solely connected devices that need internet connection just to perform anything interesting. And also a privacy nightmare.
I'm more than ready to jump ship to another OS aslong as it gets timely updates. I really like the FF6 but the update history has been pretty poor.
iodéOS and CalyxOS are expected to release for the FP6 in the coming months, and if you're currently on a pixel those 2 + Graphene are easily available to you (Calyx is on Hiatus ATM and won't be providing security updates until March 2026 current time of posting)
