  • Miss Meow is "helping" me study by walking over the keyboard, walking in front of the screen and rubbing her face on the corners to the whole thing wobbles.

    • Little dog is helping me get motivated to do stuff by sitting at my feet snoring.

      • Mr Woof is at the other end of the house maintaining security. We've had a delivery to the front door and an auction over the road so he's been far too busy to help me out.

  • I have shopped till I dropped! And by dropped I mean sat down due to chronic pain. Though I have to say I have done a lot better. Got some manga's, I even went to incub8r (for those who love artist alley at conventions this is one way to support artists. They have a lot of fan stuff, I love it!). And I got a book I've been wanting for a few months now.

Only downside is that I didn't get the manga I really wanted. But I am happy with what I have. I hope everyone has had a good Saturday!

  • Today's goals have been accomplished.

Garage organised. House cleaned (team effort). Babaganoush made. Washing on the line. Ingredients for dinner tomorrow purchased.

    Time to chill.

    • Love that ‘goals completed’ feeling!

      • It wasn't much to be honest, but I felt like I needed a bit of a win today. Waiting for food delivery now (okay missus went to get it) and cracked open my first beer.

Windows are open, nice breeze through the house.

        Feeling good all around.

  • Watching the Tillies vs Sweden tonight and can confirm I am a firm fan of the Tillies 💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛 (which is big for me as an obnoxious kiwi rugby union fan) now in the process of choosing a WSL team.

    • I'm excited for them, they're incredible.

EDIT: fuck I'd missed the first 75 minutes.

  • Study success - I was further along in my assignment than I thought. It's finished with days to go. Just one online quiz to go which I can do this afternoon, then I can focus on the new material I'm behind on. A nice brain-clearing walk with Mr Woof is planned first.

I'm struggling a bit to get everything done on time with these subjects (sustainable housing and gardening) not because they are hard but because they relate to my own life so much that I keep agonising over decisions and spending a lot of time on little details. It does make it even more worthwhile doing it though.

  • Got a couple of big costs coming up (doggo booked in for surgery next week and need to buy a new vacuum cleaner) so I should to be budgeting a bit...but the lure of eating a takeaway burger for dinner tonight is just too great....

  • Still a firm fan of the Matilda's, they have shown me that I do like soccer/football and they have inspired so many and that's so important.

  • Soxcat is back to regular operation - no deathmatch antagonism but no hyper cuddly confused hormonal shenanigans either. Thank fuck we can both relax on this miserable weekend. I also need to buy more churus because that is clearly the way to her heart.

  • Aye Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us
    The stories you tell
Aye Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
    So long and so well
    Everyone yodelling now
    Olole eee lulululu
    Olele eee eee eee eee

    • lovely song , John Denver was a singer who everyone loved but didn't want to admit to because of dagginess. Same with Glen Campbell .

  • I'm going on a cute date with my partner today. Gonna get some books and nerd stuff. And then have some burgers for dinner.

I can't wait till we live together.

  • Child scarring 101

We put on a Prodigy song on...daughter winced

My comment 'We saw them live around 9 months before you we're born'

Her face was priceless. The question is, how much will it cost in therapy sessions?

  • I don't overly get ASMR, but in movies the sound of leather sole shoes on the pavement or cutlery on china really hits that pleasure part of my brain.

Side note, one day when I am not sharing a house with a person who loves a modern mute palette, I will have the early 1940s decorated house of my dreams! Especially the kitchen complete with those round ended bone handled knives that I adore so much.

  • Third place match in half an hour

    • I’m all ready for it. Double header for me too since the Geelong Cats are up tonight.

Laundry is running. Dishes are washed.

Snacks and drinks on hand and a pizza in the fridge and about to get the hot water bottle to stay warm.

  • I wish I was me now but it was March 2012 instead, so I could go see my current obsession Electrelane play at the Corner. Not only did I not even listen to them back then, but I would've been too young to go anyway smh

  • So, how does the replay review thing work? Is that a new thing for this World Cup? I don't think I've seen it before...

    • From what I understand of it it’s used to review mostly things related to penalties in relation to goal scoring both defensively and offensively and there’s also a video reviewer for offside calls.

Other than those circumstances the VAR won’t be used for reviews I think from the limited amount of games I’ve watched.

  • Rest day from exercise for me today and thank goodness too. I caught a chill at work yesterday. There's a big roller door that's kept open during the day for deliveries, and even though it's got heavy plastic strips hanging there, that freezing cold wind was whipping straight in. I was working at a prep bench right near there. I started to feel the impact of that fall I had a couple of days ago too and mopping the floor became like an uphill battle of exhaustion. Then by the time I was on the bus coming home I'd started violently shivering.

Woke up during the night and I was freezing and everything hurt and I could hardly move. Managed to get back to sleep after putting on an extra layer of clothes, beanie and hoodie, and took some pain killers. And cranked the heater up. Feel a lot better this morning just exhausted.

Edit: got to talk to the boss about closing that door during the day when it's like that, even though it's a huge inconvenience for everyone. Also, can anyone recommend any reasonably priced hoodies that are actually warm? A lot of them seem so cheaply made and aren't actually warm, just a layer (like the one I was wearing unfortunately).

  • Morning peoples. Does everyone brush before or after they have breakfast? It's 99% of the time before for me.

    • After breakfast always, I don’t understand why you would do it before unless you like minty breakfast?

    • Breakfast at home after. Breakfast outside of home before.

    • After! Wtf, I once stayed with an otherwise very sweet and lovely aunt when I was a kid and she insisted on before and I nearly got into a fight with her because of how irrational it was. If I've slept all night with brushed teeth, it makes no sense to brush again just before the very activity that is the entire reason to brush ones teeth. I would only ever brush after, unless I'm going out and for whatever reason my mouth is a bit off (medications, improper brushing, late night snack).

      • You've got a point. Weird how everyone feels quite strongly about their preference eh. For me it's more of a habit. Scientifically it doesn't seem to make a difference but apparently the recommendation is to brush at least 30 mins after food. I must say though seeing people brush in the office bathroom after lunch always gets me.

    • 30 mins before or after eating to preserve the enamel.

      • Hmm interesting I've only seen the 30 mins reference when it's about brushing after. Teeth are weird.

  • Singing along to The Bodyguard. I was today years old when I learnt that I will always love you had an original singer that was not Whitney Houston.
