  • This is one of those weird days where I feel extremely good about myself and life and things but part of that involves cheerfully imagining work doesn't exist at all. I stare at my inbox and to do list and it might as well be hieroglyphics.

  • Me: I don't watch to many period dramas Also me: that cobblestone wall and iron gateway were featured in...

Although to be fair on myself I do have a pretty intensely vivid memory, a glance is usually enough for me to remember something, it's like an uncomfortable super power.

  • Story time to cheer this place up a bit. So this was about 2002 and the man and I went to Sydney for a few nights. We stayed in the Ibis which was in Darling Harbour. At about 9:30 there was a massive display of fireworks. It went for about 10 minutes. We're both thinking what the fuck is this about (It was Melbourne cup weekend so we were very confused). We decided to go for a walk and we ended up at the convention centre (I think that's what it's called). Big sign out the front WELCOME. Heaps and heaps of very happy people around, lots of colours, music playing, just a really good atmosphere. A little bit of curiosity and a throng of people propelled us into this building (the man whispers into my ear "I think someone just touched me on the arse") and up or down the escalator (I can't remember) people hugging and kissing and cheering and waving and lots of noise and we are inching along, heading for a door. Then I spot the sign next to the door WELCOME TO THE GAY GAMES.

The man is bopping along to the music and then I had to tell him "I think we're gatecrashing". I point to the sign. We are nearly at the door. We look at each other and turn around to head out. Very similar to Ikea when you go the opposite way but worst. The man says "I got tapped on the bum three times in there". In all fairness he has got a great bum.

Still to this day we don't know what the gay games are about but everyone was having a great time.

Side note: We had access to the Novetel pool next door where we stole 4 brand new bath towels.

  • I warm up quickly, but I get legit cold which is a wonder with some of the body fat I carry.

Like I am waiting for a flight dressed like an Eskimo. I have a tee on, a heat tech turtleneck, a jumper and a poncho that looks like a sleeping bag.

Meanwhile, stylish people just be jeans and light jumpersā€¦ or even just tees. Iā€™m wearing more than an older adult couple sitting a few rows away from me. šŸ˜‚

  • Exercises completed. Felt a bit stiff and sore after my little tumble last night.

No Mr Peeler needed a Dr to attend last night over a non emergency but still serious matter which we were worried was worsening and turning into something else. I called 13sick. Long story short, after telling me there was a Dr in the area, they then sent a txt msg that there wasn't and switched it to a Telehealth appointment, which in this instance was next to useless. When the Dr finally rang he told me that Mr Peeler needed to see a Dr in person for an examination. Well duh, thought I, who has 0 years of med school. Lots of bad reviews.

  • I think I need to start thinking of myself and looking after myself better.

Someone else complaining of not being relieved in time from duty so they can have their lunch, all while I always get relieved late, I'm always starting on time and taken advantage of while this other person who is filling today, while their timetable might have been filled up, didn't turn up for at least the first 5 minutes and was on their phone the entire time of their yard duty while I did the heavy lifting.

And I suck it up just about every week taking it. I think that now needs to stop because I'm grumpy, tired and peeved off.

  • Just tried the Aldi herring in mustard sauce. Not a fan. The sauce was no good unfortunately. Aldi herring in tomato is decent though. Pretty good to just dump the tin into some pasta and mix.
\ Overall, I am finding I pretty much only want my tinned fish to be in olive oil, nothing else - and no other oil.

    • Singing my song.

    • The curry one is not spicy and a little bit sweet if you were wondering.

Shame they donā€™t have a plain one in oil though.

Also no hash browns at Aldi.

      • I have tried that one too, better than the mustard, not as good as the tomato sauce in my opinion. Still none are as good as just the Brunswick brand plain Kippers I reckon.

  • Yoooo that rain makes me wish this was Friday night and I could wake up to the weekend

  • I made toum in the food processor instead of my usual stick blender and it gave me trouble. Stick to what you know works people. Anyway I got it to emulsify eventually and it's delicious.

It's freaking delicious. I can't stop eating it.

  • For lunch I bought a Campbells pumpkin soup. I rarely have soup but i have a headcold, didn't want to make a batch from scratch and felt like something soothing.

This is not very nice soup. Way too sweet and not thick. I don't think I'm gonna finish it.

Luckily the knot rolls I got from the bakery are perfection.

  • Taking a little break from the funny gummies and as a result had the most vivid and bizarre dreams last night which is unusual for me even sober. No issue drifting off to sleep either!

    • I really need to get into edibles if I have any hope of getting off the tobacco (rolled joints). Don't even know where to start though.

  • One of those days today. People getting on my nerves and disturbing my break times in a bad way today.

After work I think Iā€™m going to go and buy some budget lollies and a pack of cocktail frankfurts to enjoy over the weekend.

  • Ah. The Shining never gets old for me.

    • Book or movie?...I saw the movie first, then read the book. Both are great.

      • Movie. I don't remember if I ever read the book....and...that probably means I didn't or I never finished it. I usually read the book first but I'm no good with Stephen King's writing on paper.

  • Excellent, housemate is super ill, I swear if it's a different bug to the one I just had and I get sick again I will go insane.

  • Funny call from an Amnesty phone chugger today. His words are in inverted commas, mine are not.

"Do you want a copy of the lgbtqia+ ally guide?" Apparently I asked for one somewhere. I don't remember doing so. Ummm, well, I guess maybe I asked for it so I could give it to my mother, she's trying but not the greatest ally. "Do you want to be a great ally to all your lgbtqia+ peers?" Ummm, I'm trans and gay. I'm not sure I need it, but I guess I could be a better ally too. Ok, send it along. Did you know that in 68 countries it's still illegal to be gay. Yes. "Something something, death, capital punishment, homophobia something death, despair pain" Ok, fair. "Now, would you like to pay 30$ a month to help us create change in those countries?" I can't really afford at the moment. I had to leave a transphobic workplace where I was also bullied by queer staff and now earn substantially less money. "Well consistency is more important than the amount, how about $10" No, please stop. I volunteer for a transgender advocacy and peer support organisation who are actively promoting change across Victoria. I'm doing something proactive locally, which is about all I have the capacity for at the moment. "Ok can we just confirm your email address? It's deadname@gmail.com correct?" Uh yeah, that'll work but that's my DEAD NAME! "ok DEADNAME, I'll send the ally guide there" I'm feeling definitely good enough today and share and laugh about this, but fucken ell, ally this, death suffering, chugger chugger, deadname, ally that. ok? LMAO

    • This feels like those people who are like "HER PRONOUNS ARE THEY AND THEM!".

      Like... thanks dude.

      • Yeah, allies are doing their ummm best? At least things are slowly changing. but fucken ell some of the crap we hear from people over time is everything from funny to completely insensitive.

I found it all quite hilarious. How to be a better ally: Don't use dead names when you're chugging.

  • Collins st falcons video is "private" now - can't access it. Any suggestions?

    • They said that it was switched on by accident - they were testing the feed and hadn't realised it was accessible.
Should be available later this month.

      • That makes sense. Specially as this is the month that the falcons usually lay eggs. Will keep an eye on it.

  • Ran over some glass on the bike on the way to the shop and there goes the back tyre :(

It's hard rubbish collection down here in Queenscliff atm (everyone does it same day). I would've walked past at least 30-40 bikes being chucked in probably completely fine working order, and there I was walking home.

  • The little French bakery near me does these delicious little pasties that are amazing buttery pastry, mashed potato, peas, corn & carrots. So simple and so, so good.
