Whoever wrote the sign already works at a gas station. I prefer punching up, rather than down like this.
Yeah, I'm also going to guess the original writer speaks more than one language, English not being their first, which is most likely more than the second person could say.
As someone learning a second language (French), this sort of thing is what makes me so nervous to actually use what I've learned...
As someone who learned English as a second language and French as a third, I promise you, most people are not assholes like this. Most people are happy to hear you try and happy to help. If they're rude, they're just assholes and that's a reflection on them as a person and not on your skills.
I think it's more likely they're just writing in BAVE, which is perfectly valid English whether white people like it or not
Edit: nvm it could go either way, but probably not. I read it as "all pumps is pre pay"
Maybe the corrections were from a homeless dude? Would that count as punching up?
You know a teacher did this because nobody else carries a red pen with them at all times.
Seems like a subpar teacher, though.
If the meaning is clear with only minor grammar/spelling issues, that's a C at worst. F is when something is absolutely incoherent, completely off topic, or there was blatant plagiarism.
I also can’t help but think that English isn’t the first language of whoever wrote that sign.
I wish I had the courage to do that to signs.
Easy mistake to make due to stylistic preferences of the author. The sign was referring to The All Pump. Praise be.
Problem is, the only pump that is pre-pay is the one marked "AL-L"...
