Not downplaying progress but damn it's messed up that they were ever paid considering how cheap phone plans are. Social isolation is not supposed to be part of the "rehabilitation" process. Was ready to shit on the US here (as is our favourite pasttime) but apparently Canada's doing this shit too...

Rehabilitation? In US prisons? You're kidding, right? US prisons is where innocent kids go to to become real and hardened criminals. Once released the US has made sure that you're life is then so fucked that you can't get a job, or go anywhere but crime.

america's prison system is not designed around rehabilitation, it's designed around a failed doctrine of deterence. really, though, it's designed to manufacture consent from the unenslaved to enslave the most on the fringes people in our society.
