How is this surprising? While there is no direct link between conservatism and child abuse, some institutional characteristics that often align with conservatism enable abuse but especially allow it to be hidden:
- Strict hierarchical structures
- Authoritarianism or lack of accountability
- Taboos around sex and sexuality
- Secrecy or resistance to external oversight
We saw the same happening in the Catholic church for decades, because it is similarly set up.

It happens in every religion and atheist households and gatherings, too. It's pervasive and to pretend otherwise is beyond disingenuous, it's dishonest.

Exactly. Democrats had the presidency and a majority in Congress. Everyone talking about Republicans (rightfully so) while ignore Democrats doing the same fucking thing is why leftists hate liberals. They all go to the same island: metaphorically and, in this case, literally.
Everyone talks about MAGA being sheep while they themselves never criticize the dominant narrative of their echo chamber.

This, most of all. While Trump's main argument is 'if these files could harm me/us Biden/democrats would have already released them'.
Maybe. Or maybe they don't want to take you down bad enough that they get dragged along. Seems like a way more plausible scenario to me.
That's the thing with corruption - once your hands get dirty you lose the ability to judge others for having dirty hands. And wherever one looks all they see is dirty hands or hands buried in the pockets.
The whole system is compromised.

I'd say 90% of career politicians, regardless of political leaning, would fall under this category, but that's just my line of thought towards how much I trust those freeloaders.
