Much like Rosa Parks, he volunteered to be the test case. They didn't mind losing because they wanted the issue decided before a higher court.
Interesting story yesterday:

The Right learned the lesson, but they fabricate their bullshit grievance by purposely putting someone in a position and forcing bullshit actions so they can get it to the SC.
That man is a hero. 🫡
Christians, it's gonna happen again with this conservative government
we know, but 40% of us want this
Not me, and none of my brethren are interested in listening to me explain why this is SERIOUSLY bad for EVERYONE
They're just happy the people they dislike are suffering

Old school cool. Despite all.
He also did the first 360 noscope in Call of Duty.
He was also said to be so frustrated with attempts to debunk his real science that he started snopes.com to combat misinformation. Unfortunately, scopes.com was already taken.
I do feel like he kind of lost the thread, at some point.
This is the Again in MAGA.
Trying to roll back the renaissance too
Little-known fact: evolution was just a smokescreen because they couldn't actually prosecute him for that hairdo.
This is the most convincing argument for creationism I've ever heard, and I grew up in a religious household.
This is mentioned briefly in both the articles, but wanted to highlight that the Scopes trials were initially initiated as a media stunt by the local coal company to bring money and attention to their town. They selected Scopes as the defendant, William Jennings Bryan as lead prosecutor, and, after H.G. Wells declined, Darrow as defense.
Civic groups testing the law to bring them to trial isn't an unusual practice, but it being led by local business to profit the town is.
The trial transcript has some great verbal jousting between Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan. Bryan was a great orator, but Darrow was able to make him look foolish.
TIL that people with the Tintin hairdo actually existed

Make America the dark ages again
he should have thought twice about teaching facts. We only observe made up bullshit in the US!
people who dont believe in evolution as part of thier identity, usually dont even make it past hs, or even CC, they often drop out very quickly once they have to answer quesitons in biology that contradicts with god.
I've seen lots of them graduate where I live. They typically argue with it and say "Scientists don't know everything" and continue being ignorant throughout the rest of their time in school
And considering news headlines in the US right now, where certain sections of science are being suppressed, while others are promoted mainly for profit.
I think this dude is awesome, but if they were going to arrest him for anything it should have been that hairstyle.
