Friendly reminder: the concentration camps were kept out of the German heartland. The playbook is fundamentally the same; the citizenry must be able to plausibly keep the horrors out of mind. Right now, Hispanic people and immigrants are the biggest target (like during the New Deal era, where hundreds of thousands were simply deported without history giving much thought). Just know that queer people will end up there specifically for their queerness, doubly so if you're sometime high profile and outspoken.

How small can we make a trebuchet that's strong enough to launch a brick? I wonder if it's possible to make one backpack sized with modern materials.

Pretty compact formfactor and im sure you could sling at least a couple fist sized rocks with a slightly heavier counterweight on it!

Have two other people hold onto ends of surgical tubing or bungie cord, put the brick in the middle, have them walk away from you, aim between the two people, then let go?

I know it's a matter of taste but I like sidewalk tiles, either concrete or granite, much better than bricks.

Mai 68! But yeah the big benefit of pavement bricks is they're right there! Just duck down and pick one up lol. Depending of course on the street construction, Paris doesn't have so many of these anymore, in the Netherlands though they're everywhere and easily picked up, they use this a lot to make the streets easy to rework, only high speed/traffic streets have concrete.
