This is a clusterfuck. Let me get things straight: They bought a company without due research, got screwed (or so they say) in the deal and the customers are somehow the ones to pay? Like it's MY fault that YOU didn't do your job?
Way to ruin your reputation as a company.
On a side note tho, a vpn lifetime sub for only $40 didn't sound sus to people buying it?

Geez, just refund those folks at a minimum. They're going to lose way more off the negative PR.
They purchasing company reviewed the previous years worth of sales. Part of due diligence is that the seller should have informed the new buyers of the lifetime subscribers, which they almost certainly hid on purpose, illegally (at least illegal in many countries). Even moreso considering that all the lifetime subscriptions were sold third party instead of directly.
The stacksocial deal is still online and appears on the second page with a google search (for me at least) with keyword "vpnsecure".

There's no way they didn't perform a single search for the company name and go through a few pages.
They also say they didn't inherit the user payment contracts but refute themselves saying they continued providing service to users for 2 years. How do they continue user accounts when they didn't inherit those contracts? Shouldn't they have started with a new user db right away?
Seems to me they knew, and wanted to drop the baggage with little backlash, which didn't turn out as well as they thought.

Against the seller, the buyer, or both? Also, neither are US based, so good luck.

Also this is what PE firms do. They buy companies and consume until it’s all gone and move onto the next target.
I had this as a lifetime plan. Although it kinda worked, It was never good. Very few servers, very slow speed, god awful apps/extension, and none of the servers close to me. I would use it as a backup of a backup. So the usage was very low.
They suddenly went dark, idk for how long. Then they came back. I decided to give it a try after I figured I should check if anything was working again. It worked but still shit and even less servers to choose from.
Yeh, I'm good. Never used it again.
It's a surprise to me it was listed on sale and probably sold for 6 figures.
