Sabrah Hummus's parent company has ties to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). People who are against Israel's actions in Gaza boycott any company or product which is even remotely tied to the Israeli government to put pressure on them and to avoid giving them any money.
Increasingly, in the United States, state governments and the federal government have been imposing laws against the BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement, such as Texas, which passed a law banning state contractors from supporting the BDS movement. The joke, therefore, is that the government's Anti-BDS laws are becoming more and more radical, going from regulating how state employees and contractors engage in political speech to regulating how every day Americans, college students, immigrants with visas, etc. engage in political speech. By 2030, the meme is saying, Anti-BDS laws will have gone so far as to execute people for choosing to buy hummus from a non-Israeli company

Yup! Canned chickpeas also work really well and are a bit easier to deal with, with a slightly different end result. Takes about 5 minutes total for a fresh batch. Here’s my standard eyeballed recipe I’ve been using for decades:
- 1 can of chickpeas, keep a couple spoonfuls of the water (or use dried chickpeas that you’ve soaked overnight)
- 1/3 cup (or so) tahini
- A few tablespoons to a 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, to taste (you can just use water if you don’t like lemon, but I recommend lemon as it kind of fades into the background with the other flavors)
- 1 or 2 cloves of garlic (optional, but again, it adds some important complexity to the taste for me)
- Couple teaspoons salt, to taste
- Few grinds of black pepper
- Extra water if needed to adjust consistency
- Throw it all into a bowl and purée with an immersion blender, or blend however you normally blend stuff
- Serve with olive oil drizzled on top, with some zataar, roasted red peppers, sumac, pine nuts, or whatever you want

I used to stock shelves. Those sabra plastic containers break a lot during transit. The smell of half dried hummus is one of the most vile things I have ever experienced. Suffice it to say I do not eat hummus.

Tahini, Can of chickpeas, clove of garlic, juice from one lemon, 1/4 a cup of olive oil. Blender.... Sambra humas taste like cat shit, be a man and respect yourself and make your own.

I'm a baba ganoush fan myself...switch out roasted eggplant for the chickpeas and the recipe is pretty similar.

I like get hummus at other establishments other than the grocery store and I also make my own and it is light years better than sambra hummus. There's something off about it. There's like a filler or some crap in sambra hummus that is just disgusting. Like even before this conflict, I hated Starbucks and I hated that hummus. It was like COVID-19. We have to self-isolate. Oh darn. Like I was so happy about that because I don't like people for the most part.
