Damn it.
A new report from Automotive News confirms Nissan has officially scrapped the plans for both sedans. According to a statement from Nissan, the automaker recognized the shrinking sedan market in the States and has decided to shelve both the LZ1F and LZ1E sedans for the Nissan and Infiniti brands, respectively.
The sedan market is not shrinking from lack of demand, you just can't find any to buy. Automakers have just been making giant trucks and SUVs and those butt-ugly crossovers that look like shoes. I've been wanting an affordable, non shoe-looking, non-Tesla EV sedan for a good while now. My wait continues.
Honestly, we just have to speedrun vehicles that are so insanely large and so expensive that they physically cannot fit into most American cities/streets/parking garages.
Looking forward to our inevitable evolution towards eKei cars and ebikes, heheh.
Polestar. BYD (admittedly very Tesla-esque). Ioniq. VW.
Are these not available in the US.
Thing is, families don't buy sedans anymore. There's no way to fit two kids, two dogs, four suitcases and a kayak into a sedan. You need a shoebox on wheels. If you don't have kids, you don't even need a back seat. Why get a sedan when you can get a sporty coup? It's a compromise vehicle that doesn't do anything better than the alternatives.

In my day, that's how kids were made. Plus, I do need groceries and stuff. The dogs also ride back there.

It's way more than a compromise vehicle. Decent mileage/range, not too large, not too small, fits 4 people comfortably, fits just about anywhere, doesn't look ridiculous like the shoe-mobiles lol.
