Anyone know how to get the embeds on lemmy working? (to avoid youtube data grab)

I am too new to privacy and only got FreeTube(PC) and NewPipe(phone) to run with alot of failures on better applications. Thats another problem Id need help with but primarily this post is about the feature included on this platform in the setting (screenshot).

Any idea how to get this to run that way?

It's an extra step, but I really like URLCheck on fdroid. Any time I click on a YouTube link, it gives me the option to open in NewPipe.
- When I tried URLCheck last year, somehow all I could get was the opposite: all other links required an extra step before I could open them in Firefox, whereas YouTube links went straight through to official YouTube app (when I wanted them to go to PipePipe).
  Maybe I should try it again and see if I can get it working right this time.
