The extinction of species is picking up speed, and instead of slowing it down by eg protecting the climate, we focus our limited resources on re-engineering one extinct animal … humanity is lost. I just finished reading this article by William Rees of the UBC about the phenomenon of overshoot, which I highly recommend. https://lnkd.in/eqJxUZrP

I hear you, and I agree the climate crisis is the number one issue facing us right now, but that doesn't mean we can't study other areas. What can a cosmologist do to protect the climate except for swap their cosmology textbooks for climate science?

I wonder when someone is going to figure how to speed up domestication via gene editing. There's a huge untapped market for exotic pets that could be house trained.
