Exciting news! Lemma got the green light for testing on TestFlight! I was totally stoked to see so many of you signing up for testing—I never expected this much interest. For now, I've closed the signup form to get some initial impressions and work from there. I've invited everyone who signed up through the form to TestFlight. I'm not super familiar with this stuff, but fingers crossed everything works out fine. I'll check later to make sure all the invites went out. So, if you haven't received anything yet, just hang tight, and I'll keep you guys in the loop. Once we've ironed out the kinks, I'll share the TestFlight link so others can join in too.
Lemma began as my little pet project, but I'm really proud of what it's turned into. I've spent weeks fine-tuning little details to get it just as I wanted it to be. In the last few weeks, I've been off from work because I'm starting a new job later in August. And guess what? I managed to release it right before I’m going away on a little holiday trip, with a few hours to spare! Woohoo! 😄
But don't worry, I'll still be keeping an eye on the Lemma community to catch those first impressions, even though I won't be too active during the coming week.
I'm super curious to hear what you all think about Lemma, so please shoot any feedback (good or bad) over to the Lemma community. Just a small favor, though: make sure to check if someone else already reported the same issue before you post, so we can keep things a little organized.
This is the 7th (!) Lemmy App on my phone and if you ignore the fact that you can’t post, it is already the best in this first testflight build in my opinion.
Renders super quickly so scrolling is lightning fast. And it is very pleasing for the eye. Looking forward for the next builds!
I also kept going back to voyager, it’s working the best and has the most complete feature set of any of them. But I have my small issues with it due to it beings web app that probably won’t go away
Just got it running, looks aesthetically awesome, you’ve done great so far! Do you want bugs as their own posts or in a specific thread? Off the bat I cannot open images from compact mode and am unable to reply to posts. Had to login with a browser to post this.
Preferably bugs will have their own posts, but if one already exists for a certain bug I would appreciate if people commented on existing issues. As for posting comments itself; that's indeed not yet supported sadly. I focussed mainly on viewing content first, but will start working on posting comments (and posts) soon ™️
Yes I reread your original announcement and realized I jumped the gun on the posting issue. I’ll be sure to make a post for any other problems I find. Someone already reported the compact/blank image problem.
I’m absolutely in love with this app. It feels super snappy and there’s already a lot more to it than I was expecting. Looks great as well. Sadly I can’t yet go all in since it’s missing some basic features or they’re still having issues (posting, editing, replying). But it’s already really great for lurking^^
I’ve added a bunch of bug reports already, I hope that doesn’t come across as mean. Really impressed :)
Is it written in Swift/SwiftUI? Do you plan on taking this open source or would you rather keep it closed?
I’ve just taken a look at this app and it’s the best lemmy app I’ve tried even with only the basics. The curated feed had me so excited before I got the pop up that it wasn’t yet implemented, I’m really excited for that. Additionally the photo viewer is something I absolutely love. I can’t wait for more to be finished, this already seems amazing! The one feature I didn’t even see a placeholder for that I may want though is other app icons. The color scheme is somewhat out of place on my phone. Minor annoyance as this is just so much better than anything else everywhere else.
