/e/OS - e Foundation - deGoogled unGoogled smartphone operating systems and online services - your data is your data

Saw this e-OS on French24 vid. Developer claims open source OS for smartphones. No privacy data transfer to Google or Apple, but privacy protection and a smooth experience. There was a 4 month cloudservice disruption, which has been fixed. Also, you can use other cloudsservices ofc, as it's open.

Anyone good experience with this OS

Just saw this other sticky post mentioning 5 different smartphone OS systems, including this one. But not about experiences.
Added some extra info:
Some users claim to start with an older second phone, and gradually decouple as time and a learning curve is needed ( example: specific banking & parking apps, and so on)

You may want to check out this thread from GrapheneOS: https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/114235396540176085 They are technically competing, but their points about lack of support and slow update speeds are still valid.
- Tnx! Yes, I've heard about this option as being safe. I will also consider it, but as E-os claimed to be "smooth ", that would be great too ofc.
  
  I heard e/os is a lot easier to use than graphene, so keep that in mind
- After reading how Graphene an Murena are fighting over social medial like schoolgirls fighting for a boyfriend, I felt like coming back to Stock OS lol

- I have an old SmartPhone which I could use, after getting &installing a new battery. Will need to plan and go through the whole process, I'm no expert. But sure, I'll do a follow-up.
  Am now more working with migrating to mailbox.org or tuta.com, libre-org etc etc. It's a new world.

I had used /e/ as a daily driver for about a year, on one of the officially supported phones (FP3). Installation was easy, and coming from other custom ROMs I remember thinking "wow, this just works!” ;) Didn't use any of the /e/ services, things worked fine connected to a self-hosted nextcloud.
For a usability I think this is how painless an alternative ROM should be if it wants to reach a wider audience.

/e/ is good and all, but doesn't quite meet my requirements.
I was really gutted when DivestOS shuttered last December. That really hit the spot for me (and its forks like AXP.OS), as they had features like randomised wifi MAC addresses and auto switch off of wifi and bluetooth (preventing tracking via other devices). Right now, I'm stuck with LineageOS4MicroG, at least until I can get MicroG working on another ROM, but it seems like more and more ROMs are coming designed for or even bundled with gapps. I would be using crDroid right now, but I can't get MicroG up and running on that, and their stock camera app keeps crashing after it calls for Google Play Services (which it does whenever I try to search settings, strangely).

It is literally one of the worst, least secure custom ROMs there is.
Do not use it simply because it's European.

  It's hard to find any good info. TIL; GrapheneOs was founded by Daniel Micay, a Canadian. That's pretty much European too.
  To me, it's about having "de-googling" smartphone OS options. As you seem to be more of an expert, how is safety/ privacy ranked between normal Google Android phones compared to any one of those other OS from that graph; so I undertand at what level were are talking about?
  
  If your goal is to DeGoogle, GrapheneOS is by far the best option. The biggest hurdle is it's only available for unlocked Pixels.
  In terms of security, /e/ takes months to push security updates, leaving you exposed longer. Privacy? There's practically none. If you don't have security, you don't have privacy.
  So other than GrapheneOS, practically any version BESIDES /e/ is a better choice. They're all far weaker by comparison, but /e/ is the worst of the bunch.
- I've been using CalyxOS on FP5 for some time now, the only problem I've been having is that the 90hz option seems to turn itself off when you lock and unlock it. You have to turn on and off battery saver each time you unlock your phone. Otherwise it has been working great.
