Menthol cigarettes banned and every stick to hold a warning [CW: gross cancer pics]

Sometimes I wonder if the real.addiction isn't the government addiction to the tax revenue on smoking products.
Has the price for a pack risen because they are trying to disincentivise smokers, or because there are less smokers,so they raise the tax to keep the revenue flowing.

Oh grow a pair and either fucking ban them outright or get over it.
- They are already complaining about the hole in the budget illegal tobacco products are leaving, how on earth would our economy stand up to losing the addiction tax?
  
  I mean... They just put up the tax on alcohol again, so... But I agree. This means more black market tobacco & vapes. However, I imagine they would counter with "Finding the money in the healthcare we no longer have to provide for smoking related illness" or some such. (Even though many of these people will have private healthcare if that matters).

BTW, if anyone wants to give up smoking, I highly recommend Allen Carr's book 'Easy way to stop smoking'. I know a couple of 20+ year smokers that tound it helpful when they decided "I've had enough, it's time!"

What about rollies though? Like, I guess they'll put the new warning on the pouches, but are filters and papers going to have them too?
It's one thing to print a warning on the filter of a tailored cig, but when rolling your own the only warning is on the pouch itself.
I'd like to see more affordable NRTs tbh, make them real cheap, cheaper than they are, and I'd imagine more people would choose to use them.
- Ayup, they need to cut the threatening shit. We all know. People who still smoke are either heavily addicted (and trying to get off) dealing with mental health issues or incorrigible. Current measures will. Not. Fucking. Work. On. Their. Own.
  Support people who want to get the fuck off them. And cut the constant fucking sanctimonious sermonising and insistence of "see your doctor" if you give someone the choice between a $75 lecture or a $75 pack of darts guess which fucking one they're gonna pick.
  
  Fkn aye! I can tell you the pictures on pouches do nothing to deter me. I know logically that cancer is bad and awful and just the worst, but the addiction is so insidious and ingrained it feels so intangible.
  When I see nrts that cost the same as a pouch, it's obvious the government doesn't actually want people to quit. The addiction is going to win 95% of the time, coupled with a poor mental health system, up that to 99%. Of course it isn't impossible to quit, but it isn't easy and adding gorey cancer pictures to packaging is going to do nothing.
  Coupled with the ease of getting black Market ciggies that don't even have that packaging, well. Someone somewhere justified their graphic design degree I suppose.

Nek minute all smokers are conscientiously popping their butts in the bin. Rendering the butt-warning (lol) far less impactful.
