How did you guys get your fediverse real-time notifications to work?

How did you guys get your fediverse real-time notifications to work, pushed directly into your phone's notifications section? It seems that at the moment, I am using the Summit app, which claims that it checks every 15 minutes. However, my Summit app doesn't work in real-time, possibly because my phone is old, even though I have turned off battery optimization. Currently, I rely on my email services to receive notifications from my fediverse social accounts.

I didn't, nor do I want to. I'll check it when I feel like checking it.
- Problem is if you mod a community. The lack of reliable push is why some pretty terrible content often remains up for so long.

But seriously though, I kind of enjoy the lack of the constant stream of notifications. It's honestly nice because I only see them when I happen to check in.

Not all apps support notifications. And those that do work by checking your notifications every 15 min or so. Real-time push doesn’t exist on Lemmy
I’m using Arctic on iOS, but maybe some people can recommend Android solutions.

On iOS, Arctic for Lemmy supports push notifications. And Ice Cubes for Mastodon supports push notifications as well.
On Android, I've been using Moshidon for Mastodon and Thunder for Lemmy. Both apps support Unified Push (it's experimental for Thunder, requires a self hosted server as well).

the first thing i do after installing an app is switching off notifications. i can switch it back on later, if i think it could be heloful, but in like 90% of apps they stay off

That works well for me. I'm not a power user or anything crazy but I comment often and emails serve as notifications for me.

I didn't and neither should you. You're probably checking the app a dozen times a day anyway - isn't that enough?
