Police in Pennsylvania pulled a fast one on Luigi Mangione when they arrested him at an Altoona McDonald's, according to his lawyer. Cops allegedly gave him a snack strictly so they could get his DNA.

Not a legal expert, but sounds to me the entire case has been mishandled and all charges are to be dropped immediately.
Let this be a lesson, if ever arrested. Keep your mouth shut and don't accept anything that the cops give you.
- Ask for water from a bottle only, then drink without letting it touch your lips.

Well he is a bit of a snack.
It's surprising it worked. It's a really well-known tactic, owed to being on every cop show ever. Pretty sure it's totally above-board, though. Anything you leave behind (trash, crumbs, maybe a bit of saliva) is fair game. Unfortunate.

If you're arrested for a felony in CO you have your DNA collected via swab. Is that not standard? They don't do that in PA?
- They don't usually collect until after you're convicted, if I recall correctly.
  
  In CO a felony arrest gets you swabbed.
Cops are some of the worst people in the world. Cowards.
I'm kind of surprised he fell for that
- He didn't murder anyone. He's clearly just someone the cops framed. Who walks around with a confession in their backpack after murder?
- Sounds like little risk as far as this alleged crime goes, if there's any semen on the scene, it's likely mine.
  
  The blood is mine and it was consensual.
