Our democracy was low quality to begin with because of the electoral college creating a two party system. Many countries have things like referendums and proportional voting. Any pushback to trump that isn't fundamentally compromised and shortsighted will campaign on improving democracy. Unfortunately we have the democrats.
There hasn't ever been a real democracy in America. Only by comparison to obvious autocracies can you call it a democracy here.
