The petition accused Elon Musk of attacking Canadian sovereignty. The billionaire adviser to President Trump responded on X, saying “Canada is not a real country.”
Not really, no. As I understand it, currently the only reason to revoke your citizenship is if you claimed it fraudulently. Musk has done a lot of shit, but unfortunately his claim to Canadian citizenship is valid.
A good start, let's get it over 1 million and make Polliviere take a position on record if he supports retaining a guy who calls Canada "not a real country" yet holds citizenship here... what a farce.
For comparison, the total population of Canada is 40.1 million people, meaning that just over 0.5% signed this petition.
As much as I enjoy the sentiment, this petition was never going to go anywhere. As others have pointed out, revoking citizenship based on popular opinion just isn't a thing.
