I think a cybertruck would have been more appropriate. A lot of people bought a model X before we knew he was a nazi. Granted the X is still a bad car imo.
But other Tesla models are still selling much better than the Nazitruck. If we want to make a point and make a dent in Musk's profits as he strips our country for scrap metal and fires everyone, we need to discourage people from associating with anything that gives the bastard more money/power.
You have my full support and i fully agree on your last point but in nuance Tesla could go bankrupt and Musks wealth will hardly make a dent. With a budget of spending a mil a day it would still take centuries to blow trough all his money.
Someone on Lemmy once calculated that he could lose 99% of his net value, then lose 99% of what's left and he'd still be a multimillionaire. From the 320B, that would still leave him with 32M.
Also worth noting that he's stated himself that his companies' values are all heavily tied together, and that it's a "carefully balanced house of cards". If Tesla falls, so to does everything else.
Yes it is, and crashing Tesla stock will certainly make him less rich. He still has his other shit companies, so crashing Tesla stocks alone won't make him poor, but we might not have to hear quite so much about him.
It's not about denting his money, it's about denting his image. Let the free market see he's toxic, and that will send ripples to places even Republicans care about: their wallets. Specifically, it can impact Tesla stock.
Yeah but I bought a used model 3 a couple years ago and I really like it :( I don't want one nazi asshole to ruin it for me but it's a losing battle. I reserved an Aptera 2 or 3 years ago and I was hoping to not get another car until that's ready.
Nice. Which version did you reserve? I'd like to go all out and get the 100kWh battery but I'm reluctant to do so since I think 60kWh would be plenty and it's a $10k difference.
I don't need 1000 miles of range, but the battery is the only part of an EV that really degrades with usage, so I see the excessively large battery as an insurance policy against the car aging. I'd like for the Aptera to be the last car I ever buy.
Same. Telo is very appealing too, sometimes I go on camping/festival road trips and I take a bunch of stuff with me. Telo recently announced they'll be integrating Aptera solar panels, but the range obviously isn't anywhere close to Aptera's. If I ever end up owning 2 cars then I might have one of each.
Wouldn't matter anyway though since the cyber truck isn't available in Europe let alone in the UK in fact the one guy that imported one (why, he had to know it was illegal) had it impounded.
The idiot had it under foreign plate because obviously he can't get plate tags for it in the UK. He's breaking so many laws.
The best bit is that it was impounded in a Morrison's car park which is a bit like Walmart in terms of classiness. So presumably he spent all his money on the car.
The purchase was already made. Doesn't much matter at this point, no? It's not like I'm leasing it. If I could unbuy it, I certainly would, but that's not really a thing now, is it.
Edit to add, I forgot this thread was specifically about cybertrucks. I do not have a cybertruck, Id rather die. I have an old model 3.
