I have three grocery stores in town. Freshco, Save on, and Superstore.
Two are canadian owned but Save on's owner is a giant asshole who lives in Vancouver, Superstores owner is a giant asshole who lives in Toronto. The Freshco may be american but at least the owner of the actual store lives in town and is taking the time to point out the Canadian products in the store to people.
I will do what I can to cut down on american food but sometimes eating takes precedent.
I agree but it’s not the US, it’s the US government. Yes it was elected by US citizens, but a lot of them were misled by liars and I blame their (and our) education system which permits adequacy.
I don't think they should get a pass for being a bunch of morons (if I'm understanding your comment correctly). They elected this guy once already and that should've given them all the education they needed. As one of their greatest minds once said, "Fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. Fool me... You can't get fooled again!"
Yes, but this is the government they chose. That’s after 30 criminal charges, after inject bleach and take horse dewormer for Covid, after Jan 6, and after project 2025 was released, after “I’ll be a dictator in day 1”, after “mass deportations now”.
Please have some empathy for us that didn't vote for this shit stain of a republican coalition and are most likely to be hunted for sport in the next year for our choice of pronouns 🙏
First, he won the popular vote. Also, are we all pretending a non-vote doesn't count for anything?
Ignoring all the purged voters and fuckery, anyone who voted for Biden and not Kamala really voted for Trump as far as I'm concerned.
Trump wasn't an unknown this time around, everyone was well aware of what was at stake. I feel like you're trying to find some cope. But hey, I get it. Maybe I'll be there if PP becomes prime minister.
This is a FANTASTIC time for folks to start supporting Canadian made brands and avoid giving money to US companies - and that includes US companies doing business in Canada. We send a TON of money to the US via Amazon, Netflix, etc.
I've been really enjoying CBC Gem lately. North of North is a fun sitcom about life in the far north with a fantastic cast. Son of a Critch is also gold.
The US has had a stifling effect in its closest allies and partners for a very long time. I am not anti-US historically but the fact is no smaller country can hope to have an equal relationship with a super power and we have all lost locally developed technologies, businesses and capital to the USA to our detriment because the US pushed their interests over those of their supposed friends.
I am very much in favour of developing closer defence and trade relationship with small and middle power around the world and reducing US dominance. Trump may unintentionally be the best thing to happen to US partners and allies for decades. Btw am Australian, not Canadian but I suspect these feelings are widespread amongst US allies
The US playing right into Russia and China’s hands by fracturing good relationships amongst the world’s biggest allies. Putin and co. couldn’t ask for a bigger gift on a silver platter.
But I’m not worried about Canada. We will develop other trading partners and persevere until the US comes to its senses. Hopefully won’t take 4 years.
