  • couchrat says goodnight

    • aww good kitty.

Doubt it's saying goodnight it's wide awake with them eyes.

    • Photo id: grey tabby cat looking adorable

      • Hey just so you know, the image description for vision impaired users was actually already in the alt text of the photo in that comment (which you put in the square brackets when you use markup). That's how image descriptions are meant to work. If you hover over the photo on desktop or long press to open the image in another tab on a mobile browser you'll see the description.

Just fyi about accessible tech if you're going to keep wanting to label peoples photos.

  • Went out..

    16 bucks a pint.

can feed a family of 6 fo that.

    obscene.

    • Yeah beer prices are ridiculous now. I reckon the so-called micro-breweries (they're not, it's just marketing) have given the big breweries an excuse to jack up the cost of even a basic pint.

  • I've been invited to fill in a survey on my experiences as a student. The email says I am from a "unique group of students". I think this might be a polite way of saying "you're really old for a student".

    • I am amused by the phrase 'unique group'. If unique, then by definition not a group. If they meant 'small group' why didn't they say so. Fancy word syndrome strikes again.
I have a Melb Uni tshirt with 'minimise sesquipedalian circumlocutions' written across the front. I cherish it.

      • 'minimise sesquipedalian circumlocutions'

I want one. A quick google search revealed that I can buy many tshirts with just the word sesquipedalian on it in a variety of fonts but not that tshirt :( can you still get them or no?

    • old student is when your own daughter is older than the lecturer 😬

      • I do not have a daughter. Have I discovered the secret to eternal youth?! One weird trick doctors don't want you to know...

  • Ok, lunch is packed. Camera battery charged. I'm ready to head off for the day. Be good while I'm away, and keep your finger's crossed that the rain holds off long enough this afternoon that I don't come home a soggy Raven.

  • Day 4 and it's a rest day, so I just did my tummy exercises. Now Mr Peeler is up I can put on some washing. The Miniest Peeler this morning said, "you're going to have to get new clothes soon Mum." When I asked her why she said, "because the only thing that's holding up your clothes is your fat." 🤣

  • When I asked you all to cross your fingers that the rain did not come before I got home I was envisaging you holding off the weather. But I guess having my afternoon seminar cancelled so I'm home early works too. 🤷‍♂️

I was actually a bit relieved it was cancelled, as I was pretty tired from walking so far. The morning was absolutely beautiful for it, lovely and sunny without being too hot for walking. Now I just need to spend some time getting my photos off the camera.

    • The one of victoria harbour looks like a statue breating out smoke. Nice set!

      • I had to go and find the photo to figure out what you meant, but now I'm going to be seeing that every time!

  • I've been rewatching an ungodly amount British crime shows, and today I thought I'd treat myself to a rewatch of Ashes To Ashes. Holy dooly, I forgot how hilariously wild this show was, Keeley Hawes decked out in 80s garb has me cackling.

  • The clouds have rolled in over Thornbury. The soft undersides of the clouds are beginning show the warm glow of approaching sunset. Well, either that or Footscray's on fire, and I'm sure someone would have mentioned it if that was the case.

    • The band's just hitting hard out west; the cat is concerned. Looks like it'll be over quickly though

      e: ....and it's all over.

  • Sort of funny but ever since the housemates cat came home from the vet my cat is not happy with him, 9yrs doesn't matter when you're gone for a few days. Also my cat is doing this thing where he approaches housemates cat and just sort of hisses in his face and walks away, and it's so stupid and funny.

  • The sunrise is so beautiful this morning. Purple sky and the stars were still out.

  • I forgot to get up.
    I shall do so now.
A quick brekkie before tuna mornay.

  • The most frustrating part of fixing this vertigo is that I have to purposely make myself dizzy. It's an awful feeling but I have to fix it before work on Tuesday.

  • if i get blown away then rusty will have been too and i'll have someone to hang out with

  • with the exception of meals and my short venture outside to obtain tuna mornay, i have been playing phone games all. day. long.

i shall have wings with lettuce and rice, and then go sleep.

    productivity can wait.

    • I read a whole book. Not sure that's any more productive.

My dirty house is mocking me, but I will continue to ignore the mess for another day or two.

      • i gave up reading a book i don't really like, read another one instead, and read a short story yesterday

my dirty house and dirty laundry are glaring at me. But yes some time this week I should really do something about them.

    • I have flicked between Pkmn Shuffle, Bejewelled, and Peglin all day. Why be productive when we could be couch-potates?🛋🥔

      You have done well 🤗

    • After doing so much adulting the bacon must rest.

  • Missed all the rain. Stoked! Racked up almost 200km with a late start this afternoon. I always forget how cool it gets up in the hills.

  • Checking out my garden which comprises plants in pots. Quite a few ded because summer. It wasn't a lack of water. It was the sun made the pots so hot the roots cooked and water made that worse. Need more shade but even that won't help if it gets really hot.

It's like I'm watching "Miracle Mile" in slow mo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sixCVdhy0lQ
