Legendary Final Fantasy Composer Nobuo Uematsu Announces Retirement [update: this was a misunderstanding]

Good for him. He's made some of my most favorite music, and for that I am forever grateful. I've read about his work ethic, and the fact that he's still alive blows. I'm glad to hear he's going to take it easy.

This guy made some of the best video game music of all time. I hope he has a long, healthy retirement.

Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo should be as famous as John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Composed the soundtracks of our lives, even to people who aren’t gamers.

He has created an exceptional body of work I listen to in various ways almost daily. I imagine he has inspired many generations of musicians and composers these past near four decades.

So he can make a new The Black Mages album?

Bro, could you have added like 1 or 2 other victory tunes at the end of battles in ff7? Random encounters were like every 5 seconds. The victory song was played like every minute.

He's earned it. Hopefully retirement doesn't suit him though and we get another Mistwalker OST.
