Ephera @lemmy.ml I always felt like the smiling emoticon looks a little cheeky when it has a nose: :-)
So, sometimes I use it precisely for that purpose, like when I'm making a cheeky joke, but yeah, usually I'm using :) and similar instead.

I read years and years ago that a study was done, that when confronted with emoji (then called emoticons), a viewer felt a stronger attachment to those with a nose :-/ than one without a nose :/
Since then, always noses for me! :-#
