Very punk of you
Punk. Thanks.
If this was a test you would have passed lol.
It's a real shame he took down the archives of all his comics. But yeah, I got introduced to a lot of favorite punk bands through his "Liquid Paper" series.
Hüsker Dü
Ramones
Minutemen
Rancid
The Clash
Mischief Brew
Ramshackle Glory
Defiance, Ohio
Chumbawamba

I cede to all accusations of being biased towards folk punk
Thank you. I'm in a very anti-fascist mood and this is what I need.
Might I introduce you to The Muslims - Fuck These Fuckin Fascists
No pat, wingnut dishwashers, or johnny hobo. Turn in your crustpants!
/s - obviously :)
The inclusion of Chumbawumba is scrambling my brain. Explain please.
Most people only know them from that one single that got popular back in the day. They've never been a pop band though. They're actually an anarchist art collective that's been around since the early '80s. The podcast Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff did two episodes on them. It's worth a listen. They're much cooler than you think they are.
love Defiance, Ohio
Highly recommend Wingnut Dishwashers Union.
Dead Kennedys
The Clash
Bad Religion
Minor Threat
Refused
Honourable mentions: Bad Religion and The Clash
REFUSED!!!! I discovered them way too late. They were a band ahead of their time!
I actually don't like the '90s stuff they made. Their album War Music in 2019 and the 2020 Malignant Fire single songs are amazing though, and I love Useless Europeans from the Freedom album as well.
If anyone else here ever tried Refused but didn't get it, try their modern stuff, it's way different, lyrics hit harder and the production sounds more similar to that loud Samurai feel in CP2077.
Avril Lavigne
Blink 182
Paramore
SNFU
Fall Out Boy
Ohh. That's cold.
Green Day?
And The Offsprings!
Oh and Sum 41 as well!
Good picks.

Against Me!
NOFX

(Dishonorable mention to Justin Sane. Anti-Flag was a huge part of me developing my sense of ethics and social justice. Sad about what a dick he turned out to be.)
Minor Threat
Buzzcocks
Circle Jerks
Misfits
Sex Pistols
Ya know, actual punk!
Hell yes.
I've only seen two of those artists in person. Great list!
88 Fingers Louie, NOFX, Pennywise, Deviates, Rancid
Rise Against
Against Me!
Bad Religion
Spanish Love Songs
Blink-182
Deleted
NOFX Dropkick Murphy's Specials Green Day (for nostalgia) Fucked up

Ebba Grön
De Lyckliga Kompisarna
Radioaktiva Räker
KSMB
Ramones
Misfits Minor threat Black flag Sex pistols Ramones

All/Descendents
NoFX
Screeching Weasel
Death By Bobcat
Rancid
Bad Religion
Reggie And The Full Effect
Die Toten Hosen
Die Ärzte
Dead Kennedys
Conflict
Rancid
AJJ
Against All Authority
I can't believe that I scrolled the whole thread and didn't find Operation Ivy.
Well, they had one albums worth of songs then one member quit. Then other members just added Lars Fredrickson and became Rancid. Like, I love op-iv but rancid scratches that itch and people prob want some more diversity in their list.
Stooges
Big Boys
Minutemen
Husker Du
Replacements
In no particular order but still in my top 5:
Anti-Flag (RIP)
Billy Talent
Sum 41
NOFX
AFI's earlier stuff was my jam.
Anti-Flag (RIP)
Except for Justin Sane, he can rot in hell
Choking Victim Amyl and the Sniffers Minor Threat JFA Fugazi
ITT: A whole hell of a lot of people not knowing what punk is.
If it fits a strict definition, is it really punk at all?
Preach
I was like this. It is the worst thing about the music scenes. I try not to be like this anymore.
Yeah, everyone knows that Bad Religion is a prog rock band
I don't see your top 5
The Misfits
Local bands - U-Boats, Rat Cafeteria, No Fraud
And yes, I know not punk exactly but The Cramps above all of those.
Gaslight Anthem
Satanic Surfers
Millencolin
Lawrence Arms
Luther
I've liked what I've heard of Lawrence Arms but didn't realize they were known as a punk band.
The Lawrence Arms are an American punk rock band from Chicago, formed in 1999.
That's from Wikipedia, I don't know, I would have called it punk rock as well...
Dead Kennedys
Nomeansno
Fugazi
Black Flag
NOFX
Millencolin
Operation Ivy
Lagwagon
Pup
Against Me!
Screeching Weasel, NOFX, Pennywise, No Use For A Name, Rancid/Greenday for introducing me to punk.
