Back in the '90s everything messed up was "gay." The teacher won't let you turn in late homework, that's gay. Recess was cut short by a fire alarm, so gay.
I thought we'd moved past that immaturity.
- It's almost as though "woke" is being used as a euphemism for something that people can no longer say without getting pushback.
- To me, the funny thing is that even back then, you could pinpoint the hatred from the bigots: "stuff is gay" just means "I hate the gays" ... but now the fuckers can't even describe their hatred. Asking them to define what the word woke means basically causes a complete meltdown in their feeble brains. "ITS LIKE ... TRANS CLIMATE THINGS OKAY ... UUUHHHH" and then a quick change of conversation.

  I had a hopeful but naive view of humanity. I thought that progress in science and technology would naturally lead to a more educated and tolerant society. Sigh.
- Woke is the exact same criticism the right has had for the left for about 60 years. Before it was "woke", it was "politically correct", and before it was politically correct it was "bleeding-heart".
  Conservatives love to recycle, at least when it comes to ideals.

  the left didn't invent "woke". Black people invented "woke". It was meant to alert others to the idea that you are aware of racial injustice baked into our society.
