I also use some extensions to make the suggestions page not look like ass. But those are cosmetic.
I use FireFox + uBlock Origin, and never see ads. I did have to disable my other adblock/privacy extensions (DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, PrivacyBadger, and Ghostery) for YouTube before its anti-adblock stopped complaining, but FF+uBO seems to work just fine with default filters enabled.

The way I solved this was to leave my regular browser setup alone, make a new Firefox profile just for YouTube, install ONLY ublock origin, and create a shortcut to that profile on my desktop.
Now I only use that profile for YouTube. I haven’t seen one ad since this thing started.
these privacy extensions all overlap anyway.

Or you can try switching your VPN to a European location while using Ublock. I think YouTube's anti-adblocking violates EU privacy laws

Came here to post this, I started using FreeTube before even the Anti-Adblock shit started because I couldn't stand the algorithms and reccomendations anymore, as well as pushing features IDGAF about like Shorts. Made my browsing experience much more easier.

I personally don't use Youtube (I prefer using Libredirect with Piped/Invidious) but I tried Youtube on Firefox with UBlock and I didn't have any problem. This might sound dumb but what filters do you use on UBlock? I have read that turning on some filters would help with this but I'm not sure.
Yeah, in general, you'll be fine with Firefox and any of the default filters uBlock provides (even the ones that are disabled by default). The issue usually comes from outdated third-party filter lists that try to block youTube's tracking. Since the changes, you should pretty much only rely on the official lists for anything YouTube-related.
Or maybe OP's got another extension that tries to block ads. I know I've had to disable Enhancer for YouTube's ad blocking (because YouTube detects it immediately).
If you are using chrome, ditch it and use something like braver or firefox.
We are already in 2024, which means that Chrome probably does not support manifest-V2 anymore. (What an unexpected turn of events)
I haven't had a SINGLE adblock message when I use YouTube with Adguard + Ublock origin and the FF "strict" option for privacy.
But I also don't log into any accounts.
My wife was getting messages all the time (logged in) with the same adblockers. I installed an add-on that speeds up ads so fast that you don't even notice them. LOL Problem solved!

Firefox + ublock still works perfectly fine for me.
They don't roll these measures out to all YT accounts at once. I had to start a new google account to get the uBlock/Firefox combo to work again.

Firefox + uBlock Origin. if you keep seeing the anti-adblock message there are certain filters you must input. I'm sure you can find it somewhere on the Internet. If it comes back then you simply refresh your filters.
Use open source youtube third party apps and everything will be good, For pc freetube, For tv smarttube next, For android newpipe, libretube, clipious, revanced, There's also some for ios, but my last iphone was iphone 5s so i don't know how is it now
Since he mentioned invidious, I an guessing he doesn't wanna use any third party clients or sites. I myself only use freetube and piped variants for privacy reasons but I have to admit, they lack a lot of features and hard to recommend for non privacy concerned people.

I've been seeing these posts for a couple of months now, but I haven't had any issues with uBlock origin and Chrome at work, or uBlock origin and Firefox at home. Why am I able to still use these things if YouTube has been blocking them for a couple of months now?
Same, they must not have rolled it out to everyone, I have firefox/ublock origin on PC and android and have yet to see an ad on youtube, and the quality and speed of loading seem to be fine.
I doubt they would ever do this, but I wonder if they have some metric about the user's likeliness of clicking ads, and prevent more 'advertisable' users from blocking the ads but let some keep blocking them because it wouldn't make as much of a difference, or they would just leave youtube. If my adblock stopped working I would stop using youtube, without a doubt. I am allergic to ads.
That actually seems plausible. I never click anything except for a video I'm searching for. I don't engage on YouTube, and if there's an unskippable ad, I immediately leave. So I would definitely fall into the "unlikely to click ads" category.

If you have the means, you could self-host a Piped server? Otherwise, try out https://piped.video.
If it's a mobile problem, get Newpipe. It's not on the App Store, you have to go on the website to get it, but it absolutely is worthwhile. Firefox and you block still works just fine though on desktop.
You said App Store. Can Apple users install NewPipe? I have it on Android, but my wife uses iOS, and we thought she wouldn't be able to use it.
For my daily driver iOS device I use invidious webui, but my mrs + kids are all fine using yattee as an app frontend to invidious.
I get that warning all the time and it's just a reminder to go update my browser and update all of my filters for ublock origin. After everything's updated YouTube goes back to working

Firefox and uBlock for personal, no issues.
Try only using uBlock, uninstall all other extensions. Works great for me on both Firefox and Chrome.

I uninstalled and reinstalled ublock and restarted my computer and it worked amazingly. I’m sorry if it doesn’t for you! Like others said, try clearing cookies/history/errything.

yt-dlp and PeerTube.
I switched over to this script on my desktop, and I use NewPipe on mobile. The script requires you to disable your ad blocker for YT, and then uses a different method to bypass ads that hopefully google will be less likely to patch.
SponsorBlock is really good for dealing with the "this video was brought to you by" ads. There are also some other extensions that will either auto-press the "Skip Ad" button when possible, and others that will treat it like a podcast app and just change the playback speed for the ads to some really really fast speeds. So the ads are still present, but are over in seconds.
Check your firefox extensions
For PC: Libredirect plugin on firefox and point it to freetube (Freetube.io)
For Android: Grayjay (https://grayjay.app/) (Sideload it, don't install from the play store)
For IOS: Pick an invidious instance and ponder the bad choices that led to you using an apple product.
Use libretube, which is free software, unlike greyjay. It's on F-Droid.
Grayjay has a much better user experience and incorporates multiple platforms, sponsorblock, etc al.
Libretube is ok at best. Newpipe+sponsorblock via Izzy on droid is better in every way.
Grayjay is also different, as it aims to be another platform for content creator monetisation
I use Tube Archivist to download videos from my subscriptions then watch them through Jellyfin.

Yes, there's a Jellyfin add-on that uses the API to index them as its own Jellyfin library.
Each channel is a show, each year is a season and every video/short/stream is an episode. It pulls the rich metadata from YouTube as well, so you get thumbnails, descriptions, etc.
I have stopped using Smarttube Next in favour of this.
Only downside is YouTube are great at throttling people doing this so I had to set my download speed to 750kbps to avoid throttling.
I'm just waiting for the day DRM comes to other ad-riddled websites...

I'm sure there's a better fix, but I found that if I block the pop up, I can't click anything on the screen EXCEPT I can right click and do picture in picture and can play and do everything I need. If I go back, I can at least see what I want to watch, click it, then do pip.

I've been using ProtonVPN on my router with adblock and antimalware features enabled, and uBlock on Firefox and I've never encountered a problem when I click on YouTube links.
I normally use invidious anyway.
AdGuard is still working for me on all platforms. (Mac OS Safari, iOS Safari)
I use Piped + LibreTube, and I self-host Piped to get better and more consistent load times. Works very well, only minor issues every now and then.
I usually watch YouTube on a laptop hooked up to my tv, so I downloaded freetube and just imported my subscriptions. It's got sponsorblock and other features built in, but you can't like or comment on videos. Overall though I've been using it for about 6 months now and wouldn't dream of going back to YouTube and trying to constantly deal with them fucking it up more daily.

I have to log out, clear cookies, update/clear block lists, then log back in.
Did you delete Google and Youtube cookies when you reloaded the UBlock stuff? That's a necessary step.
Like the majority I am using Ublock and Firefox, but I've noticed over the last month it is very slow to catch up to YouTube ads and I'm seeing them make it through a lot more often.
Hmm. I had it pop up for the first time in ages today, but updating filters and clearing cookies did the trick.
i'm using safari on macOS, and i've had pretty good luck with Ad Guard Pro. when i get the adblock warning, i switch my user agent. when that doesn't work, deleting my cookies usually does the trick.

So I only use Brave for YouTube. I definitely won’t be recommending it, but I’m torn between whether I’m being a leech of ad-free user generating what should be near zero revenue or if I’m being valuable as a number to ad to user counts.
YouTube Unhook has started failing to auto-click the Skip Ad button as of today, I noticed.

There are other plugins that get flagged like some if the YT Premium features (cant remember the exact name)
Ublock/adnauseum work fine after uninstalling that stuff
revanced hasn't had any issues or required any workarounds

I'm on someone else's Google One, so I get it for free. For now, that means I can run yt-dlp on those pesky premium-only videos, which is nice.

I had good luck with paying for YouTube Premium. Can use a VPN to get it so dirt cheap I wouldn't bother with working around it.
