If you look at anything you can probably tell what it would feel like if you licked it, despite you probably never licking it before.
Have you tested this? Or are you just guessing what things would feel like, and assuming you're right without trying it?
im six months late, (forgot about lemmy) but i did test it, i looked at something i never touched that would probably be fine to lick, and licked it. Probably doesn't work all the time.

The ability to extrapolate what something would taste/feel like from mere looks is a learned one.
Toddlers don't have it yet, which is why they're stuffing everything into their mouths.

You might be surprised. Investigation into Molyneux's Problem found that people born blind, who later had their sight restored, could not identify by sight the objects they already knew by touch.
I've seen plenty of jelly fish but I can't really fathom what it would feel like to lick one. Would it be smooth but spicy? Would it be prickly? Would it be slimy? IDK!
As a person who probably has a death wish as a kid, i can tell you they are smooth and jelly like.
Lollypops, they can be rough to the touch but smooth once you start licking it.
