Florida fines high school for allowing transgender student to play girls volleyball
Article by Associated Press: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' anti-trans law have resulted in a school getting fined for allowing a young trans girl to play sports in a girls' team.
The student, a 10th grader who played in 33 matches over the last two seasons, was removed from the team last month after the Broward County School District was notified by an anonymous tipster about her participation. Her removal led hundreds of Monarch students to walk out of class two weeks ago in protest.
Good on those kids for standing up for their classmate. And good on the adults at the school that let her continue playing volleyball for as long as they could. Fuck DeSantis and fuck Florida.
And fuck the anonymous tipster.
Yeah. What a huge piece of shit going out of their way to rip the joy out of a poor kid's hands like that.
I hope that one day somebody fucks them over in the same way, just so they can get a taste of how that feels.
Damn right. Imagine being such a piece of garbage that you choose to spend your free time trying to take a sport away from a 15 year old kid. It's unconscionable.

The Florida High School Athletic Association fined Monarch High $16,500, ordered the principal and athletic director to attend rules seminars and placed the suburban Fort Lauderdale school on probation for 11 months, meaning further violations could lead to increased punishments. The association also barred the girl from participating in boys sports for 11 months.
This is insane
School doesn't have free speech rights to say this kid can play whatever sport they want? Hmm....
Republican state legislatures are trying to ban companies from not doing business with other companies over their public stances (ie: pulling advertising from Twitter because of the obvious). They only care about free hate speech.

When i was 12 i was the only boy who played volleyball. The teams we played were all girls as well and no one cared. I only played volleyball because i didn't like soccer and i didn't like the guys who played basketball. I mean mainly because of all the girls, but that's not what i told them
The right wing concept of "free speech" is "I can say whatever I want and you can't say anything about it."
