Meta is still my most hated tech company. Twitter is a joke. Meta is evil.

It'll be interesting to see if Meta can convert enough users to Threads for it to be a lasting platform. As much as I don't like Meta, they're in the best position to take over this social space with the most resources to do it. Especially while Twitter is laughably bad right now.

I’m eager to see when it opens up for federation.
There’s been a lot of hand wringing on Mastodon about it, but I feel like if I can follow a friend who uses Threads from my Mastodon account then great. I don’t have to use their app AND I can follow/interact with my friends.

Is everyone here forgetting that Embrace Extend Extinguish is a thing? "Having the option to follow friends on Threads from Mastodon" will lead to the downfall and eventual death of the rest of the fediverse.

meta and any other company can datafarm the fediverse as is, really
none of the data on the fediverse is protected in any particular way
