How many lemmy instances have you signed up for?
How many lemmy instances have you signed up for?
How many lemmy instances have you signed up for?
This is the way
Two: First on world, but it was pretty laggy so I changed to lemm.ee. The entire experience is better.
Exactly the same!
I still admire and am super thankful to @ruud for all the time, effort and money he and his friends are pouring into trying to optimize world.
Exactly the same here!
Same. Did it partly for my own experience, but also to move way and give new users and a chance to join us. :)
Pretty much same here. I couldn't actually sign into the first one because I hadn't put in my email. Now I'm on lemm.ee!
3! One for porn, one that was my main but then the instance got overrun by lunatics and got subsequently defederated by all the main instances, and this one
Two. One for lemmy.world but then due to the issues, moved to lemm.ee which is my current main.
I did the exact same
5 - one Beehaw, but after taking me 2 weeks to be accepted, I moved on to lemmy.world and now switched to lemm.ee since lemmy.world is having some problems with the huge influx of new users. Also have another one on lemmynsfw.com for...Well... Reasons. I also have one on Kbin, altough I don't really use it since 99% of my Lemmy/Kbin browsing in on Android and I don't know of any KBin apps as of now, besides, I think I'll just settle down on lemm.ee for now.
I opened an account in lemmy.world first, simply because I didn't know better. Then I realized that it'll be a good idea to stay on a smaller instance. Been with lemmy.sdf.org since and I'm pretty happy with it.
What are the advantages of being on a smaller instance?
Less people, lower chance of defederation. Also, faster servers, and I love SDF as an organization even beyond the fediverse.
I moved from lemmy.world to lemmy.ca. It just loads faster.
Ditto, but replace lemmy.sdf.org with vlemmy.
Two. I started on lemmy.ml, but then I spun up my own instance for me and a couple friends who mentioned wanting to check out lemmy.
Two because I instantly got banned from the first one
Why? what did you do?
Just one, I'm glad I'm able to interact with all instances from this account, I think if I felt I had to make so many accounts I'd get overwhelmed and quit lemmy
Juat one, VLemmy.
I signed up about two weeks ago I think? And I picked one that seemed large enough and permissive enough to be stable but not the biggest because I knew that one was going to get flooded with new users and suffer once the rest of reddit decided to jump ship.
So far, seems to have been the right choice.
3 so far.. but it's mainly trial and error.
Started off with Lemmy.ml then wanted a bigger instance.
Moved to Lemmy.world then ended up having too many users and lagging.
So I moved to a good compromise: Lemmy.blahaj.zone
But yeah. Three so far with the exact same username 😬
I'm on Lemmy.blahaj.zone because my lgbt wife loves blahaj and I figure it will make her more comfortable when she eventually moves to Lemmy. Don't feel the need for another instance.
Just the one (lemmy.world), but also have a kbin account just out of curiosity. Been using Lemmy much more though 🙃
Only one - on lemm.ee. Have been working great so far :)
Three total, but was using lemmy.world as my main until recently with all the groaning under the pressure of all the new signups so yesterday I spent about an hour or so methodically recreating my subscribe feed on lemm.ee
Nothing at all against the admins over at .world but when it’s pushing the absolute limits of capacity with all the new people coming by, it makes for a different experience all together on a smaller instance. Course because it’s hiccuping over there I’m seeing some significant delays in federation but whaddyagonnado.
I setup my own instance. Performance is must better than the big instances, but looks like propagation of all the federated content is a bit slow.
Hopefully update to Lemmy improve the syncing.
This is my experience too, fast to post but missing lots of content
It looks like my comments go out and are federated almost instantly. But syncing up all the content in the communities I've subbed to is definitely behind the main instance.
I think the communities stuck in "Subscribe Pending" are the issue. Probably some backlog holding everything else up.
Only one, I was tempted to sign up to another but I only just about got a nice mix of subscribed communities on this one and don't have the patience to go through it again. I don't really see the point, either, unless you are signing up to a second one that isn't federated with your current one.
Also, shout out to ReddThat.com, absolutely zero glitches or issues so far except for those that seem to be fediverse wide. Good place to be with good people.
I only just about got a nice mix of subscribed communities on this one and don’t have the patience to go through it again
There's this tool that allows you to automate that process: https://github.com/wescode/lemmy_migrate
All of them
I made 3 accounts but I just deleted 2 because imho it didn't made sense. I kept the one on the smallest instance for it's reactivity and because it's easier to keep track of things I want to save/follow
Well, I just joined today, so only one. But since you can subscribe and post to communities on any other instance, I’m not sure why I would need to sign up on another unless I wanted to change. That’s what makes the fediverse amazing.
I'm pretty sure I registered on Beehaw a few months back, but can't seem to login there with my usual credentials. Maybe I just visited the site without registering. I'm happy with just lemmy.world for now though.
Same thing happened to me, the log in icon just kept spinning.
Joined lemmy.world on June 12th, around July 3rd when it got overloaded I joined vlemmy.net, been happy ever since. So 2 instances. I still sometimes check lemmy.world to see if my posts/comments are posting because vlemmy is facing federation issues due to the reddit HoD.
I have accounts on 3 different instances.
More than 10. I'm still waiting the confirmations from some of the instances.
I read some weeks ago that lemmy instances are like email providers. So I've taken to hear the advice that I should try different instances before settle into one. It has also been part of my lemmy leaning process. I won't recommend it, though.
Just one. Tried kbin but didn't like it.
Only one, don't feel like having multiple accounts of something that I have to remember to use.
All of them! hahaha, I will own the fediverse now!
One, since three years ago. Lemmy.ml , but due the massive exodus from reddit I'm looking for an alternative. Looking for smaller instances. Any recommendation? Any instance that speaks Spanish or mix English and Spanish?
I only recently joined after hearing about lemmy. So far, I've been happy with sopuli.xyz alone.
Why would I need more than one? A couple comments don't show up once in a while, but other than that, I can get everything from one account.
I signed up for lemmy.ca after lemmy.world became more or less unusable for me. I can also see creating multiple accounts for different interests.
Porn accounts. Main and porn.
Why did your first account become unusable? What was the problem?
Having different accounts for different interests suggest to me that there's a missing feature in Lemmy. I can see why some people might want that, but Reddit had multisubs for that need. Lemmy doesn't have that.
2 as of today. My main is on BeeHaw, but I realized that some of the communities I wanted to follow were on defederated instances, so I signed up for programming.dev. I think I'm going to use it for the tech-related communities (plus anything defederated) and BeeHaw for the rest
Similar but I started in Lemmy.ml. Then found programming.dev.
what does it mean if a community is defederated? does that mean that community can only be accessed by the instance it is hosted on?
A specific instance (like BeeHaw) can defederate other instances. It's basically like blocking that instance so users on BeeHaw can't interact with that instance.
I'll probably retire the lemmy.ml and world accounts though.
Just 2: Lemmy.ml and lemmy.world.
Still trying to get my bearings before I decided when/if I want to host
One
One, lemmy.ml but want to change to a smaller one, any recommendation?
Thanks! Any Spanish instance?
One, since I didn't know how to pick. But it seems great so far.
2 for kbin, because I had no clue, but Lemmy is much snappier. Most likely will be deleting those.
Only 1, haven't needed to have more accounts and there isn't an instantance I have wanted to visit but that has blocked mine yet, so no need to have another one right now
2 Lemmy instances and also kbin. Wasn't planned, but my first instance was so overrun that there were frequent server problems.
1
Two! One on Lemmy.world a day or two after it was started ... that one is now painfully too slow, and a second that was originally going to be just for porn but now is my main, at least till world is sorted out
Two, and a Kbin. The first instance was just for bots (friendly ones I made), then I signed up for this account to use as an alt as Kbin is a bit flaky. Kbin is my main account but I'm using this one quite a bit due to frequent 500 errors over there.
4, Lemmy.world beehaw.org sh.itjust.works and my own selfhosted 😄
I have one on lemmy.ca and one on kbin.social. The latter was mostly because federation was broken at the time I signed on with the reddit migration.
I'd say I spend more time on lemmy now? Yes, kbin's interface looks more modern and slick but seems less functional? I particularly like that you can collapse threads on lemmy. And I guess a bunch of apps are headed to lemmy first so there's that.
Usually, I like to post/reply using the kbin account if it's to a kbin magazine, but something weird happened the other day. I actually saw a new post on kbin.social from my lemmy account before it showed up on kbin. I'm not sure how that's even possible?
I have one in kbin, lemmy.world, lemmy.one, and this one that I'm using right now in my own instance. So 4 total.
I don't use the first three much anymore now that I have this one but prior to this, I was mostly active in lemmy.one
Looks like...[checks sidebar] three: .world, .ee, .film. Oh, and kbin. So far .ee seems the peppiest. Wish I didn't have to recreate my subscriptions each time! 😏
6 or 7..I kinda lost track.
Most were to evaluate the best instance.
One or two were just to force manual federation sync of a community I moderate.
How many instances i have accounts on? Only 1, this one I'm using right now haha
2 but the first was a quick anonymous test that i deleted after quickly getting used to lemmy and this one.
I'm on two right now. It seems like there are issues with comments loading from other instances. For example I commented on a post hosted on instance A from my instance B, but I couldn't see the replies to my comment without going to instance A directly. This left me unable to respond directly to their reply without making an account on that instance
Two as of the moment, and I hope I don't need to add more.
