Does anyone know of a way to do this? Currently the only options are Subscribed, Local, and All, but it would be way better to choose the instance in 'Local'. All is a bit much to be able to find anything.
Like in https://lemmy.nz/communities being able to change which instance you are viewing communities from.
Also, there doesn't seem to be any option to sort lists of communities by comments/users/etc
It's not great within Lemmy itself at the moment, but there is a pretty decent community finder here: https://lemmyverse.net/communities
I don't see an option to filter by instance, but you can type e.g. lemmy.world into the search and it should just show lemmy.world communities. It seems to work alongside other search terms.
The trick with making this work would be to figure out how to deal with federation of communities. i.e. if you're looking at a list of communities on a server, you're probably expecting to see all communities, but you'd only see the communities that your local server knows about.
Then if you subscribe to a community, if that community is new to your server, you won't see all the posts and comments initially.
Side-effects of a federated model, which possibly can't be worked around easily.
