I'm trying to browse lemmy.world from another instance to reduce load, but it's a completely different experience?

Any post in a lemmy.world community I view from another instance (e.g. programming.dev) shows different content than when viewing from lemmy.world directly. Many comments are missing. There seems to be a massive lag, sometimes more than 1 day. Are instances really that far out of sync? It's hard to contribute from another instance knowing that nobody will see my comments for ~days

  • As someone running their own instance, since the update, new posts on lemmy.world have been federating comments fine from what I can tell. However posts from before the update were really hit and miss (mostly miss tbh) and I don't think they'll automatically be fixed.

  • Lemmy.world has been having some issues with slow federation the last week+. I think it's just some growing pains, for now.

  • Usually comments will be a bit behind compared to the original instance. The big ones are busy processing and federating everything. Should be a bit better when everything settles in.
