It's great to see a group of people this unified to reach a common goal, maybe they could try forming a union next?

BruceTwarzen @kbin.social So cool. I wonder what russia will use it for in the future.
18 7 ReplyMrSpArkle @lemmy.ca The DoD isn’t that daft, and given russias brain drain even if he defected he wouldn’t be able to find anyone to actually do the engineering.
9 0 Replyintensely_human @lemm.ee Oh boy here we go. Is the latest insanity that he’s going to defect to Russia now? Anybody want to place a wager?

Fuck Elron, but I hope this next one goes better. Such a waste if not.
11 4 Replylazyslacker @sh.itjust.works My understanding is, with their iterative approach, the fact that the last one spiralled uncontrollably doesn't mean it was a total waste. They got a lot of good data from that and it will apply to future designs.

Bahnd Rollard @lemmy.world Is this the new launch or the last one?
If its the latest one then it looks like they still havent put in a flame deflection system on the launch pad...
5 0 ReplyTai @lemm.ee
There is a new flame deflection system that sprays water from a water cooled metal plate under the pad. There wasn't any damage from a recent static fire test, but that was only half power compared to liftoff thrust. We'll see how it fares against a real launch soon.
https://www.youtube.com/live/ENxZS6PUDuI Skip to 7:50 for the static fire.

damniticant @lemmy.world They’ve already installed the flame bidet so this must be the first one.2 0 ReplyEylrid @lemmy.world The bidet is flat, so you can't see it from this angle. This is the current rocket stack. You can see the new hot staging ring at the top of the booster.
