Bad title, they're just doing what is required by law.

They should just outright ban the app. Will never happen though.
- If we ban TikTok, we need to ban every other major social platform as well. They all collect the same data...the only difference is where it ends up.

  It's not just "the only difference," it's the entire point. The population's data being through the CCP is the entire government consideration of banning the app.

  India banned just tiktok amd they seem to be doing fine.

- Requiring a usable mobile site could be a compromise.
  That's something that should apply to all of them. It's stupid that things like Facebook Messenger don't work on mobile now.
  
  For messaging on Facebook without the app: mbasic.facebook.com
  It sucks, but it works.
- Seems like they're trying to comply. They know the world does not trust China.
- ig is way worse for the population.

$1.3 billion doesn't sound like a lot, really.
