  • Yesterday I walked 10 minutes around my house because my watch wanted me to. Today I half jogged and half walked because I wanted to. It's a big deal for me because I suffer from vertigo and low blood pressure and weird shit happens to my ears.

I usually do a lot of walking and yoga to keep fit anyway but I need intensity movements if I'm gonna give up smoking. @PeelerSheila@aussie.zone you have inspired me.

    • You can do this. 🤗

    • Hey that's awesome! From my experience exercises really helped with giving up smoking. That vertigo and blood pressure issue is a bit of a worry.. have you got a good GP you can talk to about finding more intense exercise that won't upset the apple cart?

      • My low blood pressure I manage with diet (red meat, pulses etc). Vertigo has more to do with my inner ear and the fact that my eyes are different strengths (one is long sighted the other is short sighted). What I found is dancing helps a lot because I don't have to get up and down. I just need to increase the amount I do. Thanks again for your posts because I genuinely get inspiration from you. You are a champion. ♥

  • Phrases to put on my tombstone.

    • Fate is a cunning hussy…

      I don’t know why I love this, but I do… 😂

      • You can thank Elizabeth Gaskell for that one. Mr Gibson (the main characters Dad and county doctor) in Wives and Daughters often has some very funny outbursts that make very modern me giggle. My favourite is when he intercepts a love letter for his daughter from one of his student doctors and he writes back a doctors script that basically says "fuck off buddy boy".

  • I'm in the LAX Qantas business lounge with the fancy people! There's a free buffet and bar. I got some warm churros and they have serve-yourself fountain drinks with motherfuckin LEMONADE WOOO

Boarding doesn't start for another 2 hours so imma just chill in here 😎

    • Your banned from lemonade for 12 months once you get off that plane

      • Tough but I think it's fair.. I had 3 pink lemonades with breakfast, one last free refill of Orangeade before I left Vegas which I drank while I drove, we stopped for lunch at IHOP half way to LAX where I had a lemonade and now I am sipping my second in the lounge. I also got some spring rolls!

Anyway, I am on strictly water once I'm home until I make my lemonade company because I'll need to sample for quality control.

        Edit: photo

Omg I just realised I can fill my travel cup with lemonade for the flight!! Muahahahaha

      • More lemonade for the rest of us! Woohoo!!!

    • LAX is my view of purgatory, however I was once in a lounge there that had a DIY Taco and Bloody Mary bar. Amazing.

  • Did my exercises this morning before I shunted the Minipeelers out the door for school. I thought, geez that was a bit of an effort.. then I remembered I did the core exercises before I went to bed last night 🤦🏼‍♀️No wonder it felt a little tougher than usual! Now lunch outside for the first time since summer ended.

  • Woke up from a really yucky dream in which I was running late to a final high school exam that was going to determine my whole life... Everyone at home was shaming me hard, and I couldn't decide whether it was still worth trying to make a dash for the "late intake". I called a fancy hotline that used a projector in my phone to cast a 3D hologram map in front of me, showing that no matter which route I took I'd be late. (And also cheerfully reminding me that the best way to get to an exam on time is to leave earlier! And take it seriously.)

I decided to RUN there instead, and was overwhelmingly relieved when I saw a bunch of people lined up at school including my primary school bully (?!); so I wasn't the only one who was a failure, I was part of a normal group ... but when we were allowed in (and of course had to complete the exam in the given time, 15% less than if we'd arrived on time) I realised I was so flustered I couldn't work out the answers to most of the questions and was bordering on a panic attack...

Then I woke up to the cat's routine morning screams to get me out of bed and serving her various needs. I HATE school dreams.

    • High school nightmares are very common. Had the same one for years - I had to do an exam which I had not studied for. Horrible.

      • One of my worst ones from a while back when I was having nightmares more regularly involved my adult self being punished for submitting things late and having to sit in a hall with other students for detention. Then I stood up almost in tears with a sudden epiphany - I have two degrees and a full time job, why am I still here??!! And I remember fighting to escape.

High school really shouldn't be the cause of so much background trauma for such a wide range of people...

    • I dreamt about being on a diet, then I dreamt about meeting Mr Seagoon's family, at least the middle aged lady family part, what's weird is I was young in the dream and now I'm older than they were in the dream.

  • Since my daughter has been home sick I have seen enough of The Inbetweeners that I care to. I thought Orange Is The New Black and Shameless was bad. Jfc.

I ask her to turn these off before her dad comes home. Hahaha.

    • hugs

I think of poor mr seagoon who has had to endure me watching and listening to lotr ad infinitum. Well, I am done with it, I have fully figured out the story and it's place in art and culture.

  • Another restructure at work (public sector), a few hundred positions are going. It's both bad and good news. Bad, cause people are losing jobs, good is that they seem to be getting rid of deadwood that's been hanging around for a long time.

    Interesting times.

    • It's always better if the restructuring gets rid of the deadwood, seems like in redundancies past the useless dinosaurs have stayed on and they trim off the younger/newer hires.

  • Pinpricks of pale light, holes in the nightsky,
\ Burning hot and bright, take wing and fly,
\ Between rotating quasars, shooting high-energy lasers,
\ Through nebula birthing, stars with planets orbiting.
\ The Universe is yours to witness and behold,
\ What lies beyond are mysteries untold, fold
    \ Yourself down infinitesimally small,
\ And you'll see atoms that make us all.
\ Open your eyes wide, let in the pale light,
\ Pinpricks in the nightsky, burning bright.

  • Okay. I'm trying to get into Deadloch and the jokes are okay but trying too hard sometimes, and that obnoxious Darwin detective is waaaay too overacted/contrived to strike the right satirical note. You need good actors to pull this off... Fisk and even Rosehaven were definitely better than this. I'll watch a bit more but I'm not impressed thus far :/
