  • I'm not quite as morose after a good night's sleep and a good breakfast. My ears are still not popped though. Tried the Valsalva manoeuvre, swallowing water, sucking on a lolly and using steam but no dice...

E: the cat has trapped me so I guess I'll just be stuck here for a while.

  • So my 7 year old randomly said to me earlier it'd be much cooler if you did - cue stupid goggles from me that she didn't understand.

  • the echiums have decided it's spring

    Bee machine.

Don't be fooled by its beauty:

Toxicity usually occurs from use in herbal remedies. Symptoms can be delayed days to weeks after ingestion and may include acute liver disease and gastroenteritis; enlarged liver and spleen, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea

  • Post-dinner snack of cherry tomatoes, olive oil, and salt. Now my stomach is ACID AHHHHHHHHH

    • I might be feeling the same way after eating pears and oranges for dessert.

Hope you don’t feel too bad after it all.

  • So just to recap

It did work to some degree but I still had to scrub bits off with a plastic spoon. I did actually take it outside to soak.

The second one I have is soaking in hot water with a cup of washing powder which is what I normally do but I'm leaving it overnight which I have never done. As ugly as it might look I'll be foiling them.

  • I'm cooking for 17 people in a weeks's time (!).. SIL's fam bam is coming over for bro's and wife's wedding I just heard this today. I don't have a commercial kitchen.

    fack

    • Rent a big fridge for a week. Hot pot is an option. Maybe two or three hotpots with different flavour profiles. Or a bbq (immersion in Aussie culture). Satay sticks or similar. Party pies and potat caks! Anything that can be prepped ahead of time.

    • How many meals will there be and do you have to cook on your own?

      suggestions

giant pot of soup. quiches and pies, salads, chocolate mousses, vanilla/strawberry mousses, cheese and fruit board

    • Borrow a few slow cookers? Easy to do a 2.5 - 3 kg chunk of pork in each of them, do some amazing pulled pork creation at the other end of it. Don't need a special kitchen or any magic catering considerations.

You can likely do lamb/beef just as easily, but pork is my go-to for crowd cooking.

    • BBQ

  • I've been dashing around doing laundry, and tidying (not that the place looks that much better for it!) Then decided we needed to go shopping so the Minipeelers decided we were going to Broady. (They had Schnitz and other treats on their minds I think). I wanted to try the Choice rated Aldi laundry powder (it was actually very good, I did another load of washing when I came home) and dishwasher tablets (haven't tried them yet). We also did Schnitz, Kmart (Eldest needed shorts for school), Coles (Miniest likes a cheese that is only sold there, the Great Ocean Road Extra Tasty, and parbake mini croissants are also her lunchbox addiction), EB Games (Eldest wanted to give Skyrim a go). I've walked for hours, then got home and remembered I hadn't done my exercises today, so I did those. Miniest wanted to make guacamole (to go with the baguette she also wanted because she rarely meets a bread she doesn't like) so we did that. Now I'm resting before sorting dinner out. I tell ya, I don't feel like cooking that's for sure, but it'll be sausages so nice and simple.

    • Do you bake or fry your sausages? ( I bake because it is zero work )

      • I fry them in my cast iron pan because I like standing there and slowly turning them while my brain does something else. It's a bit like meditation for me in a way.

  • If I ordered 6 Schnitz parmigana meals delivered to work, stacked them to create my parmigana lasagna dish and ate them at my desk do you think anyone would say anything? I would have enough chips I could share a couple of those with my co workers, that should settle down any complaints, right?

    • I would buy them and take them home. Then get a lasagna tray and make the lasagna. Let it set and then you can make slices of it!!

      • Let it set and make slices? But the plan is to create a ludicrously tall pile of cheese and sauce covered parmigana and gorge myself immediatedly on it in its entirety. I was willing to forgoe the cheese sauce topping to make said gorging faster, extra waiting seems counter productive.

    • Side question but is the Schnitz Parma alright? Minipeelers only eat the plain schnitzel and chips.. every single time we eat there (it's their fave place at the moment). I've been working my way through the salads and wraps but eyeing off the Parma. We were there again today 😂

  • Mask making is moving forward slowly but surely. All components obtained, patterns made, pieces are being cut. To make 1 mask I cut 6 pieces of fabric!

  • Ugh, I think I actually do have a cold, not just my ear refusing to pop. Maybe that's why the cat's been sitting on me literally almost all day.

Got around to watching Barbie. I laughed, I cried, I sat in thought. I don't care that it was anvilicious, it was a great bit of fun. The musical sequences were a lot better than I expected. But I really don't think Ryan Gosling looked the part, it was very distracting...

    • Look.

Ken didn't do a whole lot.. you know.. since the early 60's.

    • Don't know what I have, but I was on the mend then it came back with a vengeance. Looking like I'll miss more work over it. Sucks, I already have two teams of developers waiting for me to finish last week's backlog.

  • I feel like taking a day off tomorrow.

I wonder if it’s easy enough to get a doctor’s certificate through Telehealth appointment just because I’m fatigued and need a day’s extra rest.
