Marine Mammal Rescue on Instagram: "Hold onto your flippers! 🐬 The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre is announcing that they're now officially an independent charity! πŸŽ‰ It's like they've graduated from fish school and are ready for an ocean of possibilities. πŸŸπŸŽ“ This is more than a drop in the ocean; it's brilliant news for marine life in BC! As Canada’s only dedicated marine mammal hospital, their new status means they can seal 🦭 the deal to expand the rescue centre and their programs. Working with the Vancouver Aquarium, this team of rubber boots-wearing heroes wants to take you along. Dive 🀿 into our story today to learn how you can help. 🌊 ────── Name: Silver Surfer (male) Species: Harbour Seal Admitted on: 2023/08/13 Collection site: Thetis Island Reason for admission: Emaciated, Dehydrated Weight at admission: 10.39 kg Time in care: 26 days #marinemammalrescue #sealrescue #seals #cuteanimals #cuteanimalsofinstagram #fluffy #cute #ocean #marinelife #marinemammal #harborseal #harbourseal #phocavitulina #rescuerehabrelease #sealsofinstagram #marinemammals #cuteanimals #babyanimals #babyseal #wildliferescue #wildliferehab"

The Vancouver Aquarium was bought up by a for profit American entertainment company a few years ago. Since then there have been disagreements with the nonprofit rescue & rehab branch, with the aquarium wanting to take over some things run by the MMR (I'll find the post about it later)

Having a clear distinction between the two would be great news
