What is everyone getting this Steam sale?

My new Steam Deck.
- An excellent choice. Which model did you opt for?
  
  Had enough rewards points from work to combine with my existing steam wallet to cover all but 9 bucks of it. I’ll upgrade the drive later.
  
  The most wallet-friendly choice is getting the 64gb model and a SD card or a bigger 2230 SSD.

Thinking of picking up Stray. My GF loves cats and has been waiting for a sale.

- Very hyped for this, has anyone splashed for the top end anti glare one? Is it any good?
  
  If you plan on using a screen protector, don’t get the anti glare screen. The anti glare causes a slight blur, and the protector will just add glare back giving you the worst of both. They make etched glass protectors that have the same anti glare effect, but if you put that on the anti glare screen you get double the blur effect.
  If you don’t mind popping your deck open, you can get the 64gb version and a 1 or 2tb drive for less than the price of the 512gb model. Watch a video on how to swap the drive first to make sure you feel comfortable. Otherwise, I think going for the 256 and getting a large SD card is your best option. The 64gb model doesn’t really have a lot of space for shaders which can’t be installed on the sd card without installing some mods.

It is unlikely that Cataclysm ever goes on sale, because the steam release basically is just a donation. You can get the game for free on the official website: https://cataclysmdda.org
There you can also donate other amounts than the Steam price.

- Highly recommended! I picked one up last December, and I spend more time with it than I do with my desktop. I can game on the couch, in a hammock, in the car before work. It's great!

- Stardew Valley is the GOAT. I've bought it 4 times (one for me and my ex on Android and again for each of us on PC) and would happily buy it again because it's worth every penny.
  I wonder if Stardew's mods work on the Steam Deck? I'm not certain. But the game has amazing mods that completely change the focus of the game and add a ton of content.

Dark Souls 1-3
been waiting for these to go on sale for what feels like forever!
- After 1,5 years, they finally stopped trying to milk the Elden Ring hype. Bought DS3 too.
  Last time I played a bit via family sharing though, my saves went and got wiped after a few hours... the game says it has cloud saves but the others don't actually work (this one neither, probably), so I'm mildly afraid. It does work great on Deck though.

- ibb & obb is a fantastic game
- It takes two is a phenomenal co-op experience. We did a couple of runs and enjoy the whole thing each time.
  
  The gameplay was good, the story is awful.
  We quit after a certain scene. It made us feel sick and we had no desire to continue. I had just recommended a friend to play it with their kids the day before and immediately told them not to.
  Just awful.
- Does GTA IV run well on the deck?
  
  I gave up after ~2 hours, since I didn't enjoy driving around the world, but in that time it performed great on the Steam Deck.

I took journey for the third time (1st time I will play the pc version, hope it's the most gorgeous version) and the quantic dream complete collection. The leitmotiv for this summer is "chill and cinematographic games to play outside"
- You know about Abzu? Also on sale atm an very clearly inspired by Journey, has very similar energy. Even got the same composer for the soundtrack.

Ordered the steam deck. Pretty excited about it. Also been looking at Dark Souls 3, and R-Type 2.
- Congrats. I got it as a gift and it's easily the best thing I've had in years. It's going to change the way you enjoy games.

I think I'm going to pick up control.
I've been toying with the idea for a while now and 75% off is really hard to argue against.
- I can vouch for Control. It's an amazing game. Do it.
- You won't regret it. I wish I hadn't put off playing Control for so long. It's basically SCP, the game. Got a fantastic atmosphere that really pulled me in.
  Also, there's this one notable part with metal blaring that is one of the most fun moments of any game (I'm being vague to not spoil it -- those who played will know what I'm talking about). I never expected it to be so damn cool and you won't either.
- Control was the first game I played on my deck, I hadn't played it before and I saw it on a few recommended for deck lists.
  I've since gotten distracted by other games and haven't gone back to finish it, but I was enjoying it for awhile. Souls-like games aren't overall my jam though, so we'll see if I do. I read a summary of the story already, and I'm not sure if it's compelling enough for me to finish it to experience it directly.
  But, all that to say yes, it worked great and it was fun, so definitely give it a shot!
- Control works amazingly on deck too at low settings. It's pretty dope!
- I've got that on my wishlist too, the problem is that I have so many other games already in my queue, that I think I wouldn't get around to playing it before the next Steam sale.
  As a result of having such a big stockpile, I'm not buying many games for myself in this sale. I am getting a few for playing on the sofa with family though.
  
  Yup, I've had the same exact problem for a while now (which is honestly why I haven't picked up control up till this point).
  If reading threw everyone else's comments here has taught me anything it's that I have a ton of great games in my backlog I really need to give a fair shot. 😑
- Control is one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had in the past few years. There are a couple really cool mechanics and set pieces that totally hooked me, awesome atmosphere
  It has really solid ray tracing too, if you plan to play on PC as well
- Another +1 for Control. Such a great game.
- I'm an Alan Wake fan and Control hooked me right away, especially with their Alan Wake references. If you're gonna like it, I definitely recommend playing Alan Wake after Control.

I’m grabbing Nier Automata finally. I have it on disc in ps4, but my ps5 is digital only. So it’s going to be great to play this absolute classic on sd
- Fantastic game, just know that after you beat the game and they say you should play it again. They really really mean it lol. Most of the content comes after the first ending

Skyrim (again, this time Anniversary Edition) and the Castlevania Advance Collection
- I feel the Skyrim purchase. I have about 4 or 5 different versions - all the different platforms it’s been released on!

I bought Subnautica and ended up playing it all day
- I'm jealous. Wish I could play that for the first time again.
  
  Same. The game is so good. Low key terrifying at times.

left 4 dead 2 and team fortress classic. I really love valve games and they are both fun games to play!

Probably Satisfactory. Made by the same folks doing Valheim, which I've really loved playing. Also thinking about getting High on Life. Supposed to be a good game but the full-price tag has made me hold off until now.
- Same publisher, different devs. Great game though.

- Its so much fun! My bro got it for me for Xmas. I work as a maintenance electrician in a factory so it's kinda fun combining my work with a sci fi game. It's really chill and you can even pet a little lizard doggo.

I’m going to try out Pizza Tower, my first new platformer in a long time
- Played through it a couple months ago, I felt like a kid playing warioland 4 again. Amazing game. If you're a completionist it'll last you a while, max ranking the stages is super difficult
- Phenomenal game. Probably my game of the year.

FF games are a solid choice. The Pixel Remasters have been very well received and anything that makes the early games more approachable is a solid win in my book. That said, I personally found the 3D version of FFIII (actual 3, not 6) to be phenomenal.
- FF Pixel Remasters on SD are an absolute blast.

Necesse. It's like top-down Terraria with colonists that organize your chests for you. Great early game content, anyway.
- How do you like the controller support? Well. If you've tried it.
  
  Not the guy you responded to, but I have experience with the game and stream deck.
  The controller works fine, although I can't help but think some buttons for actions are incorrect. Like cancel on one menu is one button, but a different button elsewhere. I believe controller support was somewhat recently added though so maybe it's just not fully baked.
  I suppose I could contact the author and let them know my feedback.

- ATS and ETS are such chill games. Nothing but endless roads and your foot on the pedal.
  
  Damn it. Already spent a bunch of money this sale but I somehow didn't think to get the ATS DLC that I'm missing. Thanks (or damn you?) for reminding me (and making me spend more moves >.< )
  
  Definitely, when I opened ETS2 I would forget about time and play it for hours; ATS right now is 75% off so it's definitely a good time for me to try it

I only bought games I plan on playing on the Steam Deck. Those are:

Never played any of them before.
- Mark of the ninja is the greatest stealth game of all time
- Rim World is not a game it's a time travel app. Starting playing after dinner, blink, then it's 6 in the morning.

I finally picked up Subnautica and its sequel. Really liking the game so far, though I tried to play it twice on Hardcore and ended up forgetting that I need to breathe both times, lol.
- I ended up turning the difficulty down because I found eating and sleeping too micromanagy. I like that they give you the option. It was definitely a fun game.

- Oh boy, you're in for a treat. Try not to look things up too much and get too far ahead. This is one of those rare games I wish I could experience for the first time again.

Last night I picked up: Hollow Knight, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Monster Sanctuary, Pillars of Eternity, Guardian’s of the Galaxy, Journey to the Savage Planet, and a Vampire Survivor DLC. Not bad for ~$60.
Probably gonna pick some more out for an even $100 lol Cult of Lamb is high on the list.
- Monster sanctuary is hella underrated, great pick It has such a unique combat system compared to other monster collecting games I've played. The skill trees are super fun.
  
  Another vote for Monster Sanctuary. It's such a good game and the latest expansion is also a lot of fun. It's one of the few games I've finished lately.

Just now I got three low-priced titles: Verlet Swing | Levelhead: Platformer Maker | Solo
I'm not looking to buy anything specifically. I'll probably check my Steam wishlist at some point with low price and high discount filters and decide if I want anything else.
I don't need anything new though. My library backlog with unplayed great games is big enough.
- Verlet swing is pretty fun, definitely a unique game.
- Levelhead is woefully underrated. I like it better than Mario Maker.

- Make sure you try Alan Wake American Nightmare and Control as well. Brilliant games.
  
  I played Control and loved it, kind of why I wanted Alan Wake actually. The Alan Wake DLC for control was so spooky

The Entropy Centre and Risk of Rain 2, bought more but those are the two I'm gonna play first.
- Ror 2 is such a treat

I got Lake and The Long Dark, both of which had been on my wishlist.

Picked up Darkest Dungeon, these rogue lite turn based games seem to work the best with steam deck

I went for High on Life. It looks fun and has some reasonably good reviews.

I went crazy on some colony sims like 'Foundation' and 'Kingdom's & Castles'. Loving them both!
- How is foundation?
  
  The gridless building system it has is really interesting, and the organic paths really makes it feel like your town is forming rather then being placed down. Managing the town is very like Banished but I loved that game so no issues with that! Would absolutely recommend 👍🏻

I've been playing a lot of fighting games lately, so I picked up UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[cl-r] bundled with its DLC.
Yes, I copied the title from the store page to make sure I formatted it right.

Just picked up Hi Fi Rush and Dave the Diver. I'm going to Amsterdam for a conference in a few weeks and both will be nice on the long plane ride

I just picked up Detroit Become Human to play with my partner. Its one of her favorite games and I know nothing about it

i'm debating finally trying la noire -- would have been up my alley like 25 years ago, but never got around to it...

I picked up Sun Haven. I was thinking of playing it the other day, and the steam sale reminded me it existed. (I'm having fun with it, but the play experience is somewhat janky.)
Other items on my wishlist on much bigger discounts are just sitting there because I don't have the mental space for them.
- I enjoyed it for awhile, but it definitely feels like one to wait on and return to it later when it's more developed.

Dark Souls I and III.
- As a noted Dark Souls II evangelist, you should give that one a shot, too.

  I've played every Fromsoft game multiple times, except DS2. Just got SOTFS and I'm excited to give it a go.

Didn't get it on Steam but it is deck compatible (and on steam), The Outer Worlds. Nice no nonsense Fallout Stylus RPG, without the Bethesda jank
- I very much enjoyed this game. I don't think it has a ton of replay value tho. It's a bit too on-the-rails.
- The remastered version or the original? Might wanna refund if it's the former. Humble Choice (at July 4th) will contain at least the remastered version (the Space's Choice edition).

I got a cheap projector on Amazon to pair with my steamdeck. I set up the projector in the yard, had a few friends over, and played some 4 player games I grabbed on steam sale. Neurovoider, helldivers, crawl, ninja turtles... Had a good time.

Finally decided to pick up Persona 5 Royal after having completed the original on PS4 when it first came out.
- I'm honestly really happy with the performance of P5R at Medium settings on Deck.

So far picked up Pillars of Eternity Bundle, Stalker Bundle and Mass Effect Legacy. Probably won't get much else, if anything been debating on Sea of Thieves but I wouldn't have anyone to play that with so I'm being realistic if id enjoy it solo or not.
- Honestly playing through Mass Effect Legacy alone would probably be enough to tide you over until the next sale.
