- I look at it now that she tried positioning herself as more of a pop star, but her ability to rap had her stick out at a time when there were almost no women rappers.
  Then she lucked out when pop music switched to raps for the bridge and she had a unique sounding flow at the time so all the songwriters who wanted someone who sounded like her to only be able to go to her. Nicki's popularity tanked when Cardi B and other women rappers started mimicking Nicki's style.
