Firefox dev clarifies there will be an AI 'kill switch'
The saga continues! A Firefox developer has taken to social media to note there will be some sort of kill switch to completely remove AI features.
Didn't they say similar shit about tracking, too? Then they backtracked that with later updates?
It sucks to see, but I think Firefox is going down the shitter.
If you're confident in the value of the AI, make the feature Opt In.
Let the strength of your product speak for itself.

It's already bad enough that they waste dev time with this shite instead of, you know... improving the browser for the users. Bloody slopbrowser, your only redeeming quality is to not be Chromium.
To make it worse, after a recent update, it's been constantly crashing on my laptop running Linux and the HDD on my desktop still running win10. I can't go more than a minute before it freezes up and crashes. Good thing it's not my main browser anymore.
If they could develop F-AI-refox as a separate browser I could be cool with Firefox.

Fuck you, it's not going on my system. It's sure as hell NEVER being installed in something like a web browser that has access to my password vault when it's unlocked.
I might(unlikely) have considered it, if it was op-in. But just the fact that it's opt-out means I've got to make a point of turning it off, AND regularly verifying it's stayed off because it will "accidentally" turn on again.

Perhaps Mozilla doesn't quite fit into this category, as their software is far more optional to the average user than say, Microsoft Edge or Copilot being forcibly installed on every Windows PC; but more and more companies are forcing features on users that don't want them, after being told over and over again:
