More colleges are looking at emergency housing solutions, including have students sleeping in alumni’s homes, napping pods, Airbnbs and even an assisted living facility.

Or, and hear me out, maybe spend that money on student housing instead of vast parking lots that house nobody.
These pieces of shit would rather see you live in your car than live in a home. All because they don’t wanna pay their taxes.
Garbage people create garbage solutions.
Fuck cars and everyone who thinks that housing cars is more important than housing people.

Good. It's terrible that this is a reality, but what is happening here is the decriminalization of being homeless and a student. Sure, you have to have a car, which isn't great, but for those in this situation that need this service, I imagine it to be a comfort.
What this also does is make a very public safe space for people in dire conditions to congregate, commiserate, and hopefully organize. Please make a tent city; nothing will help illustrate the problem more. Create a safe place for unhoused people and see just how many show up.
A safe space for anyone to help meet their basic needs should always be a good thing.

- A friend of mine used to live in his car, and he told me the worst part was getting chased away all the time. This would remove some stress from a very stressful situation.
- What would actually help these people would be to consider them as humain beings and provide them housing.
  
  Community colleges don't typically provide student housing. It's not like they have massive budgets to begin with.

Or you know housing for everyone.
- You sound so incredibly ungrateful. You are probably the same kind of person that goes around saying that children in public schools should just be given meals to eat while at school even if they can't afford to pay for them. As if it's not enough that their education is being publicly funded.

Are their normal car parks not safe? At my uni in the UK there's plenty of people using campers and they don't even need to hide their setups.
- Safe from theft, vandalism and harassment? Mostly yes! Safe from police looking to solve homelessness via criminalization? No.
