Just to be clear, these are the most popular metal bands from each country, according to worldwide listening stats, correct?

So in other words, nothing you'd be able to find on Encyclopaedia Metallum (unless they also got classified as some genre without "core" in it)
Edit: just joking. Mostly. I am still pretty salty about the fact that their gatekeeping is denying Every Time I Die their rightful place among the metal greats

Xavleg (zav-leg) is the accepted "short" name for when you need to say it out loud or write it and can't be bothered to put the whole thing
The whole thing is an abbreviation for a bunch of gross shit with X's on the front and end.
13 0 ReplyTheEEEdiot @sh.itjust.works It's pronounced just like it's spelled.

SomeLemmyUser @discuss.tchncs.de Nice map, but crazy how few (IMHO) good one are also the most famous.
There is so much good metal from Germany, but of course ramm- we hate women and love violence fkin -stein (who isnt even metal but "deutsche härte" and plays with nationalist pictures) is most famous.
List of ones I (personally) like:
Parkway drive, jinjer, the hu, bloodywood
Also respect for the ancients (metallica, etc.) just not my personal taste.
Edit: haha reddit users migrated to lemmy HM, you now get downvoted for sharing clearly subjektive things like music taste ^^
8 0 Replyneptune @dmv.social Definitely confused by some names. Looking at you South Africa. Also, Rata Blanca? Really? Parkway Drive? Baby Metal? 😂

Ephera @lemmy.ml Why the downvotes? These are funny names.
3 0 ReplyOokami38 @sh.itjust.works It's a pretty common thing to say certain bands aren't metal, as an elitist gatekeeping thing. Baby Metal is one that often, people will say "isn't metal" because they're cute girls in Gothic Lolita fashion. It's a pretty common assumption that anyone laughing at baby Metal is just being an elitist.
