Just to be clear, these are the most popular metal bands from each country, according to worldwide listening stats, correct?

  Xavleg (zav-leg) is the accepted "short" name for when you need to say it out loud or write it and can't be bothered to put the whole thing

  It's the number of views for each bands (as it is one band per country). It's not a map population of Spotify accounts, otherwise you would see Mexico in much darker green for instance (and Australia less dark)

I'm surprised by the lack of Iron Maiden
- It's the most popular bands from each country, not the most popular bands in each country. So Maiden could have only been in the UK and Sabbath beat them out.

Nice map, but crazy how few (IMHO) good one are also the most famous.
There is so much good metal from Germany, but of course ramm- we hate women and love violence fkin -stein (who isnt even metal but "deutsche härte" and plays with nationalist pictures) is most famous.
List of ones I (personally) like:
Parkway drive, jinjer, the hu, bloodywood
Also respect for the ancients (metallica, etc.) just not my personal taste.

  It's a pretty common thing to say certain bands aren't metal, as an elitist gatekeeping thing. Baby Metal is one that often, people will say "isn't metal" because they're cute girls in Gothic Lolita fashion. It's a pretty common assumption that anyone laughing at baby Metal is just being an elitist.

As a Moroccan, I've never heard of Torpedo until today.
